Piplula 709 Posted May 23, 2012 Ok..why no gum chewing??? I realize if I swallow the gum which I don't that I will have to go to the ER to have it removed. So other than that...is it because of the swallowing air issue? Does anyone else chew gum???
Gettinhealthy 15 Posted May 23, 2012 I LOVE chewing gum, (Haven't been sleeved yet, but went through Kaiser's options class). They said that gum has sugar alcohol in it and that could lead to ulcers in the stomach/sleeve. I don't know what I am gonna do ( I LOVE my GUM)
Carly 56 Posted May 23, 2012 If that were the case, about the sugar alcohols, then it seems like the Protein Shakes would also be causing problems.
danyelleb 386 Posted May 23, 2012 For me, gum causes discomfort. I used to love chewing gum. I've heard of others that chew gum and have no problems. So, i think it depends on the person.
Rootman 1,101 Posted May 23, 2012 Well 1 1/2 years out and I chew gum on occasion, I also drink with a straw, drink when I eat, drink diet soda and eat bread on occasion - all so called no-no's. Lost 170 pounds and have kept it off. I would say that there could not possibly be enough of ANYTHING in gum to effect you any which way, especially sugar free gum. Remember ALL THINGS IN MODERATION. 4 sassysuez, lisalalani, mimismomma and 1 other reacted to this

Oregondaisy 2,021 Posted May 29, 2012 I chew gum all the every day. I can't work out without chewing gum. The reason is becasue there is a chance you would swallow it. I haven't swallowed gum since I was a little kid.
