Yep, you are completely naked when you go in... no bra, no underwear. I think if you have your monthly visitor then people said to ask them & they may give you paper underwear, or maybe a tampon is okay?

Dont worry. They put you in a gown when they are prepping you for surgery. You have the gown on while you are awake and aware. They give you something to relax you and then you are asleep and not aware. When you come out of surgery, you are in your gown. You dont even realize you were ever naked. You wont have to be timid about your body because you wont be laying there naked and awake. Thanks goodness! HTH

I noticed that you quit smoking. My sister did too, four days ago. She is doing the Patches to help her. She started her liquid diet then too. She is scheduled for surgery on June 1! You guys will be sleeve sisters! How is it coming along for you?

My surgery is June 4th. I struggled a bit cause my doc demanded me to quit back in Jan. i fell off the wagon a lot of times. Then my coordinator was taking forever to give me a date. Finally last Friday when I got the date they told me to start my liquid diet yesterday. I had my last cigi fun on Sarurday. I haven't smoked one since. I think I'm done with the hardest two days I'm doing good. I noticed a lot of the smokers were a pack a day smokers, I was one or two cigs a day so I knew I could stop. I'm feeling great, getting my hour of walking at the park everyday, love the shakes, I just don't like the eating cause I get the runs. If rather shake up the whole day lol.

Do they shave you down there before surgery?

I know it is a very big deal to us, but hey, they are used to seeing fat, naked guys and gals all the time. They probably don't even notice any more. I know I worked in the nursing homes for a long time and naked booties/boobies didn't look any different than noses to me. I saw them every day. You will be in la-la-land and never know it. You'll go to sleep dressed and wake up dressed. And don't worry about Aunt Flo. If she is here, they will give you a big pad and a pair of mesh hospital panties. Clean, dry and disposable. No worries chickie :)

I asked about wearing a tampon and the nurse at my surgeons office suggested a pad. Just in case you aren't up to changing your tampon after surgery. I luckily got off my monthly cycle 2 days before surgery. I'm late starting this month. Maybe it's due to surgery??

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
