Hi there all:biggrin1:

Need some help you all with prices.

I have 2 children and already have them in place (Ex SIL)

Anyway I was paying 200.00 every two weeks for them both to be with her. Now the oldest goes to school all day and Is with her from about 7am to 8:15 then off to school he goes. The other little guy attends school 1/2 days and leaves around 8:15 also and comes back about 12:45pm then they are both with her till about 4pm.

She said she will go down to 150.00 for 2 weeks - now is this still alot of not?

Since the big D I am trying to make cuts where I can..

Thanks

Back in 2000 we had our kids in a private at home daycare 2 kids

4:30 am- til 7:30 am then both went to school, then back in daycars from 3pm til 4:30pm

We paid 650.00 a month.

This was the all around town price too, we checked

Compared to Australia, not a lot (its about $80 per day per child here in a centre) but childcare is a killer isnt it? We use family based daycare for Eliza which costs me about $30 for a six hour day, so that I can study. I cant wait till next year when she starts kinder and the childcare can be cut down. Even better roll on 2008, she starts school and then I can go full time at uni.

I'd say you're getting a deal. The $200 was very cheap. I wouldn't say a word about the $150.  So glad you have some family help. That's the best!!!

I am an at home daycare provider. I live in a smaller city in Wisconsin. The going rate is $ 2.75 per hour for over 2 years of age and $3.25 per hour for under 2 years of age. A 40 hour a week child is $110.00.

Now, my friend who is in the Madison area (30 minutes away) she gets $175.00 per week and others get $200.00 a week.

Next year Cristian will be full day Kinder and then I will pay alot less.

Mary,

Have you tried contacting their school to see if there is any type of extended care?

I would compare the school's prices to your SIL's.

Nope Paula Cistians school bus lets him off at a set time. Chalio on the other hand will be attending Catichism again on Monday's but through out the week he will still let be let out at the same time - so no cuts there.

I have even checked with other day care/school settings and they run higher / plus I would lose the transportation for Cristian since he goes to another School out side our home school. Confussing HuH?

My daycare provider is $80 a week. My daughter is there from 7:00AM to 5:30 PM and she provides all food and meals... We live in a small town though. In Houston I hear it is $150 at least a week per child.

I paid my sister $600.00 a month plus I gave lots of extra's.

Now that DD is in a facility runned place, I pay $790.00 a month and next month it goes up to $840.00 / month (kindergarten is included in this). If I'm late picking her up it goes to $920.00 / month (basically they got you by the balls). This does not include food or after school activities.

I cannot believe that!!- Makes you want to stay home at least for me it does. That is a pretty penny and then some.

I agree with Jachut - by Australian standards, it seems to me that you are getting a good deal. (But NJChick isn't - I hope you are getting quality care!)

Our government has a tightly-regulated and subsidised child care system.

My hubby & I use an accredited long-day care centre for our son. We pay $52 per day (7am to 6pm). This includes food and the centre-run kindergarten. No nappies or formula were provided (back in the days when we needed them).

This is our "gap" fee after government subsidy (about $16 in our case). The subsidy is means-tested, everyone who uses government-accredited care gets at least the minimum that we do. Someone on a full subsidy (e.g. unemployed or pensioner) could expect to pay up to $16 - $20 per day. Our rates for 4 days care and 5 days care the same (i.e. the 5th day is "free") - which is extra incentive to work full time.

Last year I think we got a "one-off" tax rebate ($600?). This year there is a new tax rebate scheme, which gives you 30% of the gap fees (from 2003-04 tax year) as reduced taxable income (in 2004-05 tax year). We expect that this will help us get a slightly bigger tax refund, but in reality will only worth a pittance in terms of real money in our refund cheque.

My SIL was using non-accredited care and paying $30 per day. This was unregulated, uninsured private babysitting, the woman had 10-15 kids in her house at any one time - which is much more than is allowed for accredited care services here. Also, the kids weren't given meals and did not have the benefits of programmed sessions & play like they would get in an accredited family-day care (in-home) or long-day care (creche) setting. Plus, if you use non-accredited care, you don't get the rebates and tax breaks. Frankly, it scared me!:omg:

hmmm I would think that since she is their aunt, that she could go down to $100...afterall the time she has them is cut in half, why wouldn't the pay be? I would nicely explain about the expenses. Good Luck!!!

I live in a Cleveland suburb and drop my 3 yo off at a home daycare on way to work. She charges $150/week (going rate). She will also watch him for a few hours extra if needed. She has also had him overnite when I was out of town for work (@$35/nite). I like her alot and he's been going there for 2 years now. Wish I had family help, but I guess it wasn't in the stars for me!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?
