May I ask why ur blood sugar is high? I have type one diabetes and I know if my sugar isn't under control then it will take longer for me to heal my wounds and incisions.

No. I didn't know that helped but I will try. It went from mild to crazy out of control in three months. I was shocked when my results came back. I ate 1/2 cup ff cottage cheese one hour later reading was 233. ??? Breakfast one egg, one egg white. Small piece watermelon. lunch tuna, snack was the cottage cheese??? Yogurt has 32g carbohydrates.??

Sorry to hear that. I know a lot of things have a lot if carbs and sugars and it sucks. My a1c has dropped and I'm taking less insulin now. I get my carbs from simple carbs like veggies and brown rice or quinoa. I can't eat fruit be ause my sugar will get too high. I just have to stay strong and positive. Try not to think about it too much and watch ur carbs

What kind of meds are you on? You may need to adjust them to get this under control. Do you know what your A1C is? If it is high you will need to get it under control. Very important for healing as Sweetsusie said.

You need to check your blood sugar two hours after eating, that is where you should be seeing it at regular levels.Fat free doesn't mean sugar free, it amazes me hos something that is good for you can have sugar in it but it does.

You know, I hadnt had my primary Dr for very long before seeing my weight loss surgeon, and I was afraid that she might not sign off on my surgery. I asked my surgeon about it, and he said that your weight causes so many health problems and risks when you are morbidly obese, that if your primary care Dr doesnt sign off, then it might be time to rethink that choice. Luckily, she did and I was able to get it paid for by my insurance, but I cant understand why your Dr wouldnt want you to be as healthy as you can be. Good luck!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
