weight loss rate

Recommended Posts

Unfortunately for most of us, no. It won't continue. My rate of loss has gradually slowed down from the very beginning. I started out fast for a month or two and have now gotten down to where my average weight loss per week is 1 pound.

But still, you got a bonus of a great start!

I'll be more emphatic. NO, it will not continue. And you don't want it to--that rate of loss isn't healthy to sustain. You're still on soft solids, you mentioned elsewhere. Probably when you go back to eating normal solid foods your weight loss will stabilize.

I lost 19 pounds in the first 3 weeks on liquids. It has been 9 weeks since surgery for me and I have lost a total of 27.5 pounds

8.5 of that was in the last 6 weeks on food. I'm going for my first fill tomorrow. It slowed down for me onceI started the soft food stage. But I'm so happy with my weight loss in the 9 weeks. No other diet have I ever been so successful!!! I shoot for 1-3 pounds a week, that is my goal. some weeks I met it and some weeks I did not...

Good Luck

That's a great point Joyce,

On the occasions where I have stayed the same (or even gained) I have lost inches instead... so thats really worth thinking about.

And no, that weight loss will slow down, i'm aiming for about 1 - 3 pounds off a week too - (it's staying pretty much at 1 pound a week just now)

It really depends on your excersize regime, basically the more active, the more loss ! (well, that's the theory anyway!) lol

Big congratulations on your loss so far ! ANY loss before a fill is a great bonus!

Aud x

I lost 26 then gained 5 so I put the scale away. Last week I was still wearing my usual size 28 slacks, which felt fine. But later at work, I was standing up and felt my inner thighs touching each other. I looked down and noticed the crotch of my pants was hanging 4 inches lower than it used to. I ran to the bathroom and noticed my pants were sliding off me.

I don't care what the damn scale says! Over the weekend I emptied all my 28s from my closet. My 26s feel really comfy, and I even zipped up some 24 jeans. Too tight to wear, but hey, I zipped the Mo-Fos all the way up!

Screw the scale! Whoo hooo!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
