joyful noise 101 Posted May 21, 2012 Some of the medications I take are rather large pills. How can I take them after surgery?
NJsharon 119 Posted May 21, 2012 Can you cut them? That was easiest for me at first. I just cut them into 2 or even 4, then swallowed them, one piece at a time, with a sip of Water. Now I am able to swallow them with a small gulp of Water & I don't get any gas or stomach pain from that (I am 11 days post op). Some Drs also allow you crush your pills & add them to a teensy amount of apple sauce. But you would need to check with your specific Dr about that.
MyGastricSleeveLife 180 Posted May 21, 2012 Depending on the medication, you may have to see if they come in liquid or chewable form. Some are not as effective if crushed or cut. They absorb differently if altered. However, some are fine crushed or cut. You need to check with your doctor to find out about your specific medications.
