When Will It Start To Improve?

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone. I was just wondering about energy levels. My surgery was on May 10th, and I am on my first official day of full liquids (although I did try a Soup yesterday) My energy level has been very, very low. I was just wondering at what point should I start to feel better? Right now I feel as though I could sleep for a month. I've been trying to get my Water and some Protein in, and have been getting about 30-40 grams of protein (as instructed on my clear diet) Please tell me this gets better!

It DOES get better, and very quickly usually. Are you taking Vitamins yet? I started taking chewables as soon as I got home from the hospital and have been super high energy ever since. I don't know if the vitamins are the source of it, or if I psyched myself into that energy level, but it's there and I'm thrilled!! :)

Took me a week before I didn't feel exhausted walking 3-4 blocks. Took me about 2 weeks to be able to get through a busy day of school without feeling like I was gonna pass out at the end. After 2 weeks, it was pretty much back to normal.

it gets better day by day...I have a lot of energy 6 weeks out, but at two weeks out, I thought I was better than I was and overdid it a couple of times...take it slow and easy.

I think that's another problem that I have. When I do feel pretty good and get out for some activity, I tend to do too much and come back in to sack out on the couch. For instance, I was feeling ok a little earlier and went out to work with one of my horses a little bit. I didn't even do too much with him, just lunged him (had him working around me in a circle while I stand mostly still) but that still zapped every bit of energy I had. I do take a childrens Gummy Multivitamin (by recommendation of the pharmacist) and a calcium/vit D chew twice a day, and a B12 in the mornings. I'm glad to hear that it will improve eventually, thanks everyone! :)

Took me a while to obtain any kind of energy level. You got to give it a bit of time. The one thing you need with this kind of surgery is patience. I learned the hard way..LOL

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Had a sleeve in 2017, lost over 100 pounds. Had a DS surgery this year (2025) for more sustainable weight loss. 🤞

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
