Nanny3Kids 8 Posted May 21, 2012 I am so scared, i am making myself sick over it i dont know how i can cook for my family and not eat a bite? Do you really have to wait 4 weeks to eat real food?
Lissa 2,631 Posted May 21, 2012 Nanny, If you weren't scared you wouldn't be normal. Everyone goes through the same thought process. As for cooking for the family, you can have the same things once you're cleared for mushies (puree your food) and back on regular food. So, you won't be able to eat the exact same meal for a few weeks. That's not a HUGE deal in the scheme of things and it isn't for very long. Post op hunger is very different from what you experience now. It's not that gnawing sensation that screams at you. After surgery, mine was more a "hmmm, I could eat" kind of thing and my acid reducer even takes care of that. Do NOT psyche yourself out now. The liquid diet before and post op diet are not lifetime changes, but losing the weight IS a lifetime change. You will be so happy that you took off this weight now and get to spend more time with your family! 1 vanb0052 reacted to this

Finally sleeved 1 Posted May 21, 2012 I had a total meltdown the night before my surgery. I am so glad now that I did it!! I have found out that hunger is mostly in your head. You can do this and it will be good in just a short time. I am only 4 wks out and have lost 21 lbs. Good luck!
Writergirl 230 Posted May 21, 2012 I thought that this was going to be torture, but after the liquid diet, it's really ok. I strongly suggest you do what I did... make a bunch of meals in advance and freeze them. You could make meatloaf, Soups, potroast, lasagne, and whatever you family likes that will freeze well. Then, all you have to do is stick them in the oven or microwave. No handling food or ingredients. It worked very well for us.
