Wondering If You Can Do This On Your Own? I'm Convinced.....

Recommended Posts

that I could NOT.........I am 7 months post op and no way could WW, JC or Nutrisystems work for me.......I know I could never have sustained myself and be satisfied on 1200 calories a day and working out an hour a day......on my blog today I talk about what I am doing now to just lose a lb a week (at the moment I am in a stall).

Please read it if you are one of those who cannot seem to lose it by dieting......just click on my link below and it will take you to this week's blog where I talk about my stall and how people are wired differently

I just left a comment on your blog. I feel the same way! I've tried so many programs and just plain old diet & exercise and have not had much success over the years. I'm so happy with my choice for surgery! I just had surgery this past Monday & feel great already!

Nope. If I could have done this on my own I would have. I didn't go into this journey thinking this was the "easy" way out. I knew it wouldn't be easy, no regrets.

I am very scared and worried, surgery scheduled for June 14. I too have lost and gained over and over. I admit it: I am hungry all of the time and overeat and am a quantity eater!!! I don't know that I would ever be able to do this on my own. I sooo appreciate your advice!

Thanks everybody!!!! Glad to know I'm not the only one......I sure always felt like it when I would defend myself and tell people that I really have been good on WW or the diet-of-the-week and haven't cheated and I don't know why I only lost a 1/2 lb in the past 3 weeks.......ugh; so happy THOSE days are over for good!!!! I'm actually pretty happy this is happening because even I was starting to question myself......Michelle, Chitowngirl and Robin: Welcome to the club!!!!! This is such an exciting time for all of you; and Robin, good for you for doing this in your 50's (I was 58 at surgery and I feel like a kid again!).

And to Finding Myself: try to use that extra energy to be excited, not nervous! You are going to be so happy and healthy and feeling so great by the end of the summer......and don't worry about being hungry.....at least for me (and I think many others) the hunger goes away; it's so nice not to have food control your thoughts any more!!! You'll do just fine.

Thanks again for the feedback and for reading my weekly blog.

Hell, even with the sleeve it still took me SEVENTEEN months to get to goal. There is no way on earth I could have sustained any diet that long. And I did try WW (twice), Nutrisystem (twice) and MediFast in addition to a myriad of other diet programs.

Keep up the good work on your blog - I enjoy your perspective.

Good point; this isn't necessarily the speedy way, but it works and the scale keeps moving.....in the right direction although slowly at times. Just looked at your profile pictures; what a difference....you are so beautiful! Thanks for writing and the compliments on my blog....hoping to be in the 130's before my year is up, but we'll see. My target is also 135 although officially 141 is the magic number for me not to be overweight and I'm closing in on it!

Thank you Queen of Crop - I feel as though I could have written (most of) that blog post. I also have a slim husband and he is a quantity eater. I am new to this forum and am hoping to join not just the forum but the group of you that have had surgery. I will be going back to read more of your blog now.

I didn't go into this journey thinking this was the "easy" way out.

Any time I start to wonder if I'm taking the easy way out, I remind myself that it's not - it's the only way out, especially after trying WW, South Beach, Atkins, etc etc etc.

Goodluck thinonmymind! This forum is really wonderful and because I didn't have a follow up doctor or nutritonist, I relied on it heavily. Good stuff here. Keep us posted and in no time you'll be thinlikeyourhusband!
