If the tuna works go for it but add some lube to it like mayo or something. I'm six weeks out and at 4 1/2-5 weeks tuna did not sit well and I haven't tried again. Layered taco dip is my go to ff refried Beans, sour cream, cheese, a little salsa, all good for you. At three weeks unless ok'd by your dr. you should still be on purees and mushies. Be careful... I know your hungry or (think you are) which is my issue. But move slow cuz the consequences can be uncomfortable.

I had surgery on Apr 24. I have been eating tuna with mayo and a couple of crackers for a week or so. I stick to low fat ritz crackers. Those who avoid cards, don't eat them, I am trying to go low carb though.

I have also found that a great meal for me is 1/2 of a small turkey & cheddar lunchable. I eat 1/2 for Breakfast and 1/2 for lunch. 115 calories and tastes great.

Crackers are okay, as far as I'm concerned. They're pretty much slider food for me cuz they mush down to nothing.

Yup, I agree about the crackers, they actually can help if your tummy is upset, after all that's what expecting mothers have been doing for a century or more :)

At three weeks it's kind of early for dense Protein like tuna, I'd stick with the diet that your doc gave you. It was 4 weeks before a ate soft foods and typically stuck with Soup and stuff like that.

Typically most people do NOT experience hunger at 3 weeks out, they either have a lot of excess acid which makes you THINK you are hungry, and the crackers can help with that, or you are "head hungry" which is a psychological issue you should get help with.

It depends on your guidelines. My progression is really slow & I can't have tuna until at least 7 weeks out! Follow your doctor's guidelines.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
