Well everyone has different results. But in my experience it was more about the pure shock to my body. I think during the losing stage my body was so "busy" keeping up with all the other changes and couldn't continue to grow hair and so it just fell out...my guess is 1/3-1/2 of my total volume. But here is the good news...at 17 months out it is all back and just like it never happened. Only difference I am a size 4 and living a very happy and healthy life!!!

Hair loss is tremporary. My weight loss is forever!

PS I take GNC's B-beautiful chew once a day. I think it helped with the health of regrowth.

needed chemo to combat my breast cancer 10 yrs ago. hair was totally gone :(

it took a while, but the hair did grow back. i have very thin hair, was hoping it would grow back thicher and more luxorius (msp) no such luck -_-

I'm 5 month post op surgery, and haven't lost any hair yet, but it might still happen. Like someone said "above", Hair loss is temporary, weight loss is permanent

best

I ask my doc this question on my two week followup. he questions why I was relying so heavily on high Protein shakes. I told him because I didn't want my hair to fall out. He said high Protein or not 50% of patients may or may not lose their hair. It has to do with the shock of the surgery and to the body plus the rapid changes taking place in the body that causes Hair loss.< /p>

He told me to quit being a nurse and thinking i needed all this nutritional input now and to start being a patient lol. He said he was not worried for now about my nutrition but instead me learning how to eat properly again.

Do u have a hard time getting all ur Protein?

Not really, i find it surprisingly easy, my mom used to drink the Protein shakes from before the surgery if she had trouble getting in the Protein. if thats your problem, i would recommend that .

My doctor wanted me to get protien from

food rather than supplements here is what I do, I experimented and found that

1. Beef Jerky, costco thick cut Kirkland brand is soft and easy to eat. 1 oz has 9 grams of protien and 60 calories that's about 2 pieces.

2. Premier Protein shakes 11 oz 1 gram of sugar and 30 grams of protien. Sams club and costco carries it.

3. Smoked salmon 2 oz 15 grams of protien.

4. Baby bel light cheese 50 calories and 6 grams of protien.

I like these items and eat them daily because it's a lot of protien for a little bit of food. Good luck!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
