Recommended Posts

This is a bit off of subject, but I am a registered nurse and wonder if any other nurses know of a at home position I can do? I work a full time job and this would be part time. Any suggestions nurses? Oh, I'm in state of Alabama .

How about transcription? I know a lot of RNs who wanted to be at home and did that. You already know all the medical terminology, and if you can type, you can do it. There are many hospitals and transcription services all over the States that allow you to work from home. Hospitals will pay more than services. I make 20/hr doing it. If interested, you can go to the website of Association for Healthcare Documentation Integrity (AHDI) and find out more. Good luck!

this job sounds great. Do you have to be an RN to do it? I'm a CHHA.

I went on the website and it had a lot of info. How do I get a hospital to hire me and do I need to take. Course or just certification exam?

Future - No, you do not have to be an RN for this job; in fact, most are not.

DKNA - I think with your RN degree, you would be a highly desirable candidate. You don't need to take a course unless you don't know medical terminology, which you must already. I would simply apply to all the hospitals in your area, although some require in-house training for a period before you go home to work, but I bet you can find some that don't require that. I guess you could start making by making phone calls. That website should have some job postings as well. Or look for transcription services in your area or nationally.

ohhhh Joni, thank you so much! I was just griping about how I made the wrong career choice in my life and how much I really don't like it (after 20+ years of doing it) . . . well now you've made me want to steer into another direction using my RN degree. . . thanks girl! Maybe there is a brighter light at the end of the tunnel

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
