kccgm 7 Posted May 20, 2012 I never had any bloating after surgery but today I feel it and the tummy feels warm to me. And a little hard by the bellybutton incision. Normal? Figured out my pain meds are giving me insomina too! Sent from my iPhone using VST
AliveAgain 283 Posted May 20, 2012 Sounds like gas to me. Search this forum and you'll find lots of answers for what to do. Basically walk, walk, walk, fluids, fluids, and maybe some GasX or Benefiber. It's normal for the incision to be a little hard the first month from the fluids healing the incision. Yes, pain meds will mess with your emotions and dreams, as well as cause major Constipation (bloating). You'll know when you're ready, but you will feel better mentally a few days after you stop the pain meds. But don't rush it if you truly still have pain. I think I used it for 2-3 days after surgery and then switched to children's Tylenol.
Shilo30 16 Posted May 20, 2012 If you are feeling warm and hard I'd call the dr. Both can be signs of infection... Better safe than sorry!
amr2393 16 Posted May 21, 2012 Are u running a fever, and redness AROUND the incision sites, oozing from incision sites. These are local and systemic signs of infection. If so, call doc. If not then mostly likely just gas. Walk, and walk some more.
Phi Phi 4 Posted May 21, 2012 I'm seven days post op. My arm was red and tender to the touch where my iv was. The doctor said to put warm moist heat on it three times a day. It worked, I didn't have to make a trip to the office. 1 mylifeinpink reacted to this
mylifeinpink 349 Posted May 21, 2012 I am experiencing the exact same thing 6 days out! My suggestion was what Phi Phi said, word for word, from my surgeon~ I know mine is not gas, I felt the whole gas thing, and had it gone by the first day or two. Id like to keep up with you, and see when yours subsides. Are you covering your stitches KCCGN? I was instructed to leave mine uncovered, except for an extra one that I have from having my GB taken out at the same time. 1 kccgm reacted to this
kccgm 7 Posted May 21, 2012 Thanks for the ideas! I had my hubby look at it, who's an emt. He did suggestion if it got any harder to call the dr. I go for a wound check in the morning anyway. Sent from my iPhone using VST
