My One Week Post-Op -- Down 6.4 Lbs!

Recommended Posts

I just had to share - I'm down 6.4 lbs! I weigh daily, but do my "official" weight each Sunday. I weighed last Sunday & was 267.0. That was the day before my surgery. Today I am 260.6!!!! I'm down 6.4 lbs in 7 days! This also brings me down 19 lbs in 3 weeks because I lost 12.6 lbs during my 2-week pre-op diet! My husband just asked me "So, do you feel almost 20 lbs lighter?"

All I can say is that I am SO happy with my decision to have this surgery done!!!

I will post new pictures & measurements later this morning on my blog!

MyGastricSleeveLife,

Good for you, starting off with such a BANG. Makes you feel great, right? Your progress will continue as your smile gets bigger, your wasist will get smaller. ;)

IMO - you should get off that scale, only weigh once a week, then you'll be happy and surprised when you weigh in. :)

Welcome to sleeveland, enjoy the view.

Kathy,

I'm actually an odd one - I like to use the scale as a tool to help me know how different foods influence my body. It's not that important now that I'm on only Clear Liquids, but in the past with other programs I've done I've used the scale as a learning tool to see how my body adjusts to different foods and even during my period and such. It helps me know my body more. I don't stress over the actual number. I just use it to help me. Every once in a while, in the past, I have let the number bug me & then I have waited a few days before getting back on. However, for the most part I like weighing daily. I'm just weird that way. :-)

Great job! I am 6 days post op. Lost 8 pounds since last Sunday (sleeved Monday), and lost 4 pounds before that on one week pre-op diet for a total of 12 pounds in the past two weeks and a grand total since this journey started 19 pounds!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
