I'm a stomach sleeper & it took about 3 weeks before I could sleep comfortably in a bed.

I had surgery on May 10th and had similar problem sleeping in bed. At 1-week visit nurse practioner gave me a wide' date=' elastic waist wrap. I'm not sure of the exact name of it; but it really helped. I put it on at bedtime and have been able to sleep in bed every night since. It feels like it keeps the tummy from shifting . . .it's like having a pillow constantly pressed against my stomach. Highly recommend it . . . (it's similar to a back brace without the braces and it's as thin as clothing).[/quote']

I may have to ask about that!!! Thanks!!!!!! :-)

Im a stomach sleeper- It took me 5 days to sleep in a bed on my back and 10 before I could "gingerly" sleep on my stomach.

I will be honest- the huge issue was not the pressure on my tummy- but the belly would hang and swing while I was getting in the laying down position and would pull the muscle incisions (under the skin) and the dermis incisions (visible ones). I even tried using a Flexees waist cincher so I wouldn't have the pulling- but it didn't help- gravity had other plans :(

I was freaked out that I would never be able to stomach sleep again- but I'm more comfortable now than ever.

I started sleeping on my stomach in the hospital. I just propped pillows just right. It was uncomfortable at first then the pain goes away after a minute or two after you relax. I didn't take much pain meds either. I think two doses after I got home. So I don't think it wasn't to bad because I wasn't to drugged. Lol

Yea I did....I slept on a couch...kind of half propped up. Needed to buy about 4 extra pillow in addition to the 5 I already had. Put all those kind of in a pile against my heqdboard & got my rear as close to the that & laid down. Of course we had bunch some up and reprop to support my neck

Getting out of the bed is a nightmare for me LOL. I miss the handles on the hospital bed, I really do.

I don't sleep on my stomach due to religious reasons (I guess I just grew up trained to sleep only on my back or my right side) but I could only imagine that sleeping on your stomach has to either hurt really bad or feel really good. Sometimes the pressure kind of helps.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
