There's a great thread that's stickied on the part of the forum. It has a lot of posts about what to bring and not bring. There's also a Word doc you can print off. Good stuff!

I am going to be honest with you... Everything I brought... I used nothing. Changing PJ's was not an option due to the fact the IV was keeping that from happening. Brought my laptop, headphones and IPod.. no need. The computer helped my husband and mother in law pass time. I wasn't allowed to shower until the day after I left the hospital so the toiletries I brought weren't needed except the female cleansing wipes and toothbrush and tooth paste.

Now I did use my cell.. For 5 half coherent texts and 1 slurred phone call lol. The provided the skid-free slippers, but mine were cuter so I used them. And the only other thing I did use was the scentsy pig of my daughter's. It smelled of baby and helped me get through my first night without her.

I found that i didn't use my laptop, robe, or much of anything either. My iv stoped me from wearing my own pjs to but i figured it would so i didn't even even bother. Just used feminine cleaning cloths, drodarant, toothbtush and paste.

No need for you own PJ 's

Because of IV you will not be able to wear your own gown or top. Hospital gowns snap on the sleeves for this reason.

PJ pants or shorts

Robe

Slippers or favorite flip flops

Of course personals bathroom ( pads or tampons) just incase

I also would take a small pillow. When walking and riding in a car after surgery I held a pillow against my stomach incision.

Yes, don't forget the pillow! If you hold a small pillow tight against Ur tummy when Ur getting up, laughing, coughing, sneezing, walking....omg it feels so much better after an abdominal surgery

The only things I brought with me that got used were toiletries, loose clothes to go home in, magazines, phone and charger, and my own slippers. Everything else wasn't necessary. When my mother came to pick me up, she brought a firm pillow from my house to hold on my stomach over bumps, but I didn't need that with me IN the hospital.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
