Amytequilahouse 184 Posted May 20, 2012 How long does it take to wake up from anesthesia ?
hellonurse 76 Posted May 20, 2012 It took me along time to get with it after surgery. I was told by my family, I was in recovery for 6 hours. But everyone is different. Some people are more sensitive to medication than others. But they usually only have you under for about 45-60 minutes for surgery. Maybe even an hour and a half. Lissa 2,631 Posted May 20, 2012 I don't know how long it took me. I know that my surgery was about 90 minutes and I remember waking up in recovery vaguely. I don't remember being wheeled to my room, nor do I remember insisting on walking from the wheeled bed to the hospital bed. I also don't remember telling the nurse that there was no way I was getting into that hospital bed. I do remember looking around while I was sitting in the chair and asking why was I sitting up. It just goes to show that everyone's experience is different and we all recover at various rates. Besides, we the patients have the easy part of surgery. We get knocked out and get to sleep through the whole thing. 1 Amytequilahouse reacted to this

Felicity549 47 Posted May 20, 2012 I don't think I dreamed. I know it took me quite a while to wake to the point of clear consciousness. I dont remember being taken to my room or anything until about 6PM. My surgery started at 11AM. My doctor said I told him 3 times (none of which I remember) that the hospital needs to rethink the paint colors in recovery because the color palette is just creepy). I wouldn't have believed that except that's totally something I would say. You'll do great. I was soo scared but I made it. If I can, you can. I'm the world's biggest wimp but I can honestly say that the whole ordeal really wasn't so bad. The worst part is the anxiety over the unknown. 1 Amytequilahouse reacted to this
