I was told before surgery that I was Vitamin D deficient, like many of us are. I haven't been taking my supplement since surgery because I was thinking I'm getting it from my multi. Now I'm questioning this...I'm not getting enough, am I? Can I take the Vitamin D liquid caplets, or do I need a different form?

I get my extra Vitamin D through my Viactiv Calcium chew.

Good question... How much are we even supposed to take?

A few months before surgery my Vitamin D deficiency was found and treated with large doses of Vitamin D pills. After surgery, the doctor said I did not need to take my Vitamin D supplement and that we would see what my 6 month bloodwork results were and go from there. My Multi-Vitamin has some Vitamin D in it.

I take a Vitamin D pill every day. Plus my multi and 2 viactiv every day.

My Vitamin D was low pre-op & used to take one 5000 IU gel cap every day. Post op I take a chewable Multi-Vitamin plus a chewable Vitamin D (again 5000 IU). Only 9 days out, so haven't had my Vitamin D levels checked. Hoping the chewables work vs. using the gel caps.

I also take a B12 vitamin daily & a calcium citrate chewable.

Mine was low too and I just take a Calcium chew 2 times a day with Vitamin d. That should be enough.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
