I will work, if you work. I would call it a 60/40 relationship--me 60% effort, band 40% helper. But, yes...tons of people are making excellent progress with it. Once you put in some work and start seeing results then it will affect your "mood". Positive results motivate people so once you get a good thing going your outlook on life usually perks up too. I feel great. My band doesn't bother me in the least and I'm really happy with things. So, good luck and best wishes!

Lap Bandit--Yes, I will have to work hard at losing the weight. However, you would say that the band has made it an easier road than without it?

Definately. Hunger doesn't control me any more. Yes, I still get hungry but it's not like before. It used to feel like "if I don't eat RIGHT NOW I'm in trouble" then I'd stop off and grab a soft pretzel or something from a convenience store. But now it's like "I'm hungry. I need to make some time soon for a meal." Big difference to me because those uncontrollable hunger pangs always resulted in a bad food choice for me. Bad food=gain weight!! So, I'm glad that cycle has broken.

Your work is key to making it a success...that and PATIENCE. If you stick to making this a healthy process...don't worry about how fast you are losing, and deal with the emotional eating issues as they come, you will get through year 1 and see a whole new person!

Maybe it would be better described as "finding the person you were hiding".

One of the best decisions I've ever made!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
