Has gain over 50lbs in the past 5 years... Have try every single diet out there, love exercise, but since after my gain weight nothing works for me. Had my VSG (Sleeve Surgery) done May 15th, I was 238lbs... It's been 3 days, I'm doing great, the 1st day was the worst, but I deal with it... I don't have complains about anything, love my liquids, my meds are alright.. I just started the "Pro Performance" 100% whey protein" today... I blended with ice it taste good... The Popsicle are ok... My only problem is the "GAS" omg... Pls advise me with anything dat with get the gas out of my chest.. This is painful... I'm doing the GasX Strips and it seeing to work but just for a short time... Other then dat I'm excited.. And ready to do 200% to see my results.

P.S: any advise is a big •Gracias• I'm so new in this, I think I'm doing everything right...

I will say is not easy, but at the end it will worth every step. :)

I will see my Dr. In 2 weeks (may 30th).. I'm cant wait to see how much weight I have lost..

Y'all take care.

Walk! Physical activity is going to be the best thing and you probably can't do anything more vigorous than walking at this point. GasX is really dealing with intestinal gas and that isn't your problem.

Yeah, walking is the only thing that helps the surgical gas work its way out of your system. I've done lots of short walks around the living room. The Gas-X only helps gas in your stomach or intestines, but not the actual surgical gas.

Ahhh... seeing people differentiate between surgical gas and digestive gas is like music to my ears. <- one of my "support" pet peeves

When you aren't walking, try a heating pad. The heat often helps. So can just standing (walking or not). You can also try laying on your left side with your right knee & thigh pulled as close to your chest as you can comfortably get it.

Other than that, it's just time. Most of the pain should be gone in a few days. You may get pangs of it for a while, but it should not be persistent.

Thanks for sharing your story. It sounds like you are doing very well but the gas, of course, as they said walking is the best for surgical gas, and actually helps with digestive gas.

It will be hard to differentiate between the two at first. My suggestions are do not use a straw and make sure you sip and not drink.

You stated you are already doing Protein shakes. If you are drinking shakes by using a blender and mixing with ice, or using something like the magic bullet, it whips little air bubbles into the shake, which most definitely promote extra 'non-surgical' gas. Perhaps using a shake cup to mix your drinks will help for a few days or finding a clear Protein Drink (like Isopure) at least for the first week will help too.

walking is what helped get the gas out of me. even if it was just the little bit around my house after surgery. around day 4 it finally settled down. Im 8 days post op now and can still feel some gas in my left shoulder though. Just keep walking. Hope this helps a bit.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
