Krista 40 Posted May 17, 2012 Hi everyone. I am a week out from my surgery and doing pretty well for the most part. I am having difficulties getting my liquids and Protein in (I'm getting in about 50 oz of Water, and probably 30 grams of protein) I'm still on the clear liquid phase, so I have been playing around with adding unflavored Unjury to crystal light and chicken broth. Can't exactly say that I'm a huge fan. I'm now starting to second guess myself, wondering if this was the right thing to do. Is this a normal phase to go through at this point? I am already down 26 lbs since a week and a half before surgery so that's nice to see, I'm just having a hard time mentally.
Lissa 2,631 Posted May 18, 2012 Yes, it's very normal to have these doubts. But, they will clear up very quickly once you're back on solid foods. Just take deep breaths and hold on. It will get better in a hurry! 1 Krista reacted to this
Krista 40 Posted May 18, 2012 Thanks Lissa, it's good to know that this will pass! I think another part of my problem is that I haven't taken my antidepressants since the day before surgery (last Wednesday) I'll start back on them tomorrow morning when I take the rest of my medications and hopefully things will start looking up
Lissa 2,631 Posted May 18, 2012 Good luck! I hope that helps you!
Indymom 132 Posted May 18, 2012 I won't sugar-coat it. The first few months SUCK. I was miserable for 2 months until I was able to start eating "real" food. Once I could resume a fairly normal diet (with some restrictions, of course) I felt 100% different.
roxy.grissom 12 Posted May 18, 2012 Hang in there and just keep remembering why you did it in the first place. Keep all the "want tos" fresh in your mind and before you know it you will be doing them. I had the surgery 10 days ago and I refuse to be negative one minute because I want to ride my bike without my butt going numb, fit in the Super Man ride at Six Flags, buy a nice pair of pants that makes my butt look cute, go dancing.....and this is just what I have to do to get there. Write down some goals, read them when you feel discouraged and keep looking to the successful completion of some non-scale victories! 1 DanityChai reacted to this
