Plastic Surgery in Canada

Recommended Posts

Does any fellow Canadians plan on getting plastic surgery when they reach goal?

Does anyone know if OHIP covers any procedures?

Good Morning Cloe:wave:

About the plastic surgery, I believe your doctor has to give a medical reason for the Tummy Tuck, that way Ohip will pay for it, everything else you pay for yourself. I am not a hundred percent sure of this though, maybe someone else would know.

If you interested go up to the Cosmetic & Reconstructive Surgery Forum, a gal from Australia just posted pictures of her tummy tuck, she looks great, quite a scar though :ohwell: At least it lets us know what to expect.

Maria;-)

your doctor may recommend a Tummy Tuck etc and send pics to OHIP, but for the most part they deny them. For some reason, they approve breast reductions etc after losing weight. ( guess OHIP is male dominated)

so for the most part, save your pennies.

OHIP doesn't pay for tummy tucks at all, what they do pay for in some cases are called panniculectomy. This is a very different surgery to a Tummy Tuck. A tummy tuck involves cutting off the excess skin, making a new belly button, pulling the muscles tighter and some contouring. The one that is covered by OHIP is strictly the removal of excess skin and nothing else. It is very difficult to get it covered and your doctor has to apply to OHIP to get it approved. You usually have to be medically supervised for recurring rashes under the apron and yeast infections in the skin folds and so on and even then they might say no.

As someone else said, don't count on it and start saving your pennies for PS.

I had a bit of plastic surgery done when I turned 50. I wanted my jawline tidied up, and the guy did a good job. I paid for it myself just as I paid for the band by myself. OHIP seems to lump all of these types of surgeries under the banner of vanity surgeries - ones that are not medically necessary - and so the patient pays. Hell! now we have to pay for eye check-ups! The good news is that these surgeries are income tax deductible. The bad news is that if you want OHIP to cover your belly work you'd best have it mauled by a pitbull or a sheep first. Then maybe you would stand a chance for OHIP to cover the work.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
