Looking For High Protein Shots

Recommended Posts

Ditto on everything said about the shots. I like the cytosport whey isolate drinks. They are super syrupy so I mix one 16.9 oz bottle with 16.9 I of Water. I think the Isopure is too tart and leaves a terrible after taste.

Blend ice, Fat free milk & Body Fortress Protein Powder ( any flavor) Makes a great shake if put in the blender (like a frosty), you can also add a little bit of sugar free pudding mix for even better flavor! I have been adding some Hills Bros, skinny latte powder mix too. ;)

I think all of the Isopure RTDs except the grape frost flavor are horrible. I've tried them all now. The apple melon is particulary foul.

The grape one, really really cold, with a packet of SF grape drink mix added, tastes like koolaid (to me).

I met someone in my options class that the surgeon told her that she could cut the Premier Protein with Water because it was to thick for her. Just get a gallon jug of water, put how much water you need in a day and pour in the number of Protein Drinks you need for the day. As long as you finish by the end of the day, you will have consumed the right amount of Protein. She said this works for her. I plan to try it if I am not able to tolerate the thickness of the premier.

Has anyone tried the Premier Protein shakes from Sams Club? We don't have costco here where I live.. Just wondering if these taste good..

IMO, these are the best. I have tried dozens and have settled on these. You can get them at costco or Sam's Club.

Do a search on the site (upper right hand corner of web page or under Options on mobile device) for Premier Protein. You will get a lot of threads to read about people's opinions on these. 99% of them are favorable.

I happen to be drinking a chocolate one right now. Yum!

I have them. They're... just ok. I can't quite say they're yummy like Dooter or PDX (not that Dooter & PDX aren't yummy). They're not my favorite. I usually add a pump or two of a SF Syrup. Maybe I'm just a sloppy drinker? But I also find they leave "flakes" on my mouth. I'd rate them a 6.5, maybe 7 on a 10 pt scale.

Too bad you're not in KC, I'd give you one to try before you bought the whole case. I bought a case, thought they were OK, bought two more cases, then found my Isopure drinks and my Premiers will probably expire before I drink them.

People tend to find one or two Proteins they gravitate to, and like anything else - what's delicious to you could be grody to me. Case in point, I despise black pepper, olives, horseradish, dijon, fennel, and anise. My husband adores every single one of those things.

Good point. This is true. If you take awhile to drink them, things tend to "settle" to the bottom. If I find I am taking 15-20 minutes to drink one, I have to put my thumb over the top for a quick *shake*, otherwise, I just dump it when there is one drink left.

If you drink the whole thing in 5 minutes, which I do post work-out, then its all good.

BTW, Wheetsin, I think you're yummy, too.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
