One Week Out And Feeling Dizzy

Recommended Posts

Like the title says, I am one week post op (hard to believe it's been a week already!) and I'm feeling dizzy a few times a day. Just wondering if this is normal? I'm still on the clear liquid diet and am trying to get as much Water in as I can, as well as some unsweetened fruit juice, a popsicle, some tea in the morning and some broth in the afternoon and evening. Should I be worried?

Are you on any meds? I understand that BP meds can make new sleevers dizzy because the amount needed changes so quickly once you're sleeved. Also, how many calories are you getting in a day right now? If it's very low, you could be dizzy because of that. Were you pre-diabetic or did you have Type 2 diabetes? If so, you may need a lower dose (or no dose) of your diabetes meds.

I'd give my nut or doctor a call so they can advise you more fully since there are a lot of reasons you could be dizzy. The three above are the most common ones I see people posting here.

Thanks for your ideas! The only meds I was on pre-op was an anti depressant (Cymbalta) and a vit B12. I don't think I'm getting as many calories in as I should, I do feel better after I've had some broth or a popsicle. My family doctor only sees patients three days a week (Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesdays) so it looks like I'll have to tough it out until next week. I do get to start full liquids on Tuesday, hopefully that will help :)

krista are you getting in Protein? I made sure and got my protein in.. and i felt better.. also make sure you are taking your Multivitamin. I have the Unjury chicken Soup broth that i used quite often along with the chocolate splendor and unflavored. I've been putting a scoop of the unflavored in with my Water and crystal light... that's the easiest way to get in the protein.. you might be feeling dizzy from that. You can also email trish and she can ask Dr. Ponce. Hope you feel better soon.

Thanks Holly! I do have some Protein powders and have been adding them to my broth. It never occured to me to add it to my crystal light. I'll send Trish an email right now and see what she thinks :)

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Had a sleeve in 2017, lost over 100 pounds. Had a DS surgery this year (2025) for more sustainable weight loss. 🤞

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
