help, stuck right now

Recommended Posts

Yes, I think you could/should wait until tomorrow and then call him.

While this is certainly stressful, and uncomfortable, I don't think it is an emergency unless you haven't been drinking for a couple of days. That's not good. You could get pretty dehydrated. And when that happens you could get pretty confused (loopy). If you ever do think you need to go to ER because of that, tell them you need an IV for hydration. You are not having a heart attack.

My last golf ball started on Friday night and took 24 hours to pass.

Hope this helps.

Ok, I think it's over. Gravity did the trick. That was frightening and very painful. Do I have permanent damage? I wouldn't be surprised. This episode was not a little slime and up comes the stuck piece. I've never had anything even cause a little bit of discomfort. Thanks for your help/suggestions they really got me through this. Stitchy, thanks for being calm and talking me through this.

No, you don't have permanent damage. If this was a regular part of your routine and you did it all of the time, you could hurt yourself. Once is not a problem. Many of us have gone through it. Just take this as a lesson learned. You might want to eat soft easy foods for 24 hours as you esophagus isn't very happy with you right now. Then smaller bites, chew to goo, etc. You know the drill.

I'm glad you feel better. I'm going to bed now. My work here is done:)

This is one of the best things about this forum...instant help from those who know. I'll be filing this experience away to keep for a future reference "just in case". Thanks experienced bandsters for helping us newbies out.

2.5cc isnt that bad of a fill.. depends on what band you have. I just had a 2cc fill and I have the bigger VG band.. so I would ask the doc what size band you have.. Sorry about the painful episode.. I got turkey stuck once and thought I was having a heart attack! YUCK.. HUGZ..

The inamed wallet card says max fill is 4cc.

The fill was 8/10 not 8/13

Well, I didn't have trouble with any foods prior to the fill. Sore stomach this morning. Sips of warm Water are passing through now. What really helped move it was the yoga position then I layed over the arm of the couch head down. The pressure from the couch arm felt like it helped move that stuck piece. I am embarrassed that I let this happen, but I'm grateful to have you guys to go to for help! Thanks!

I do that position but over the toilet lol. I just bend at the waist and keep my head lower than my mid section and the stuck food comes up with a cough. I think no matter how many times we learn things get stuck there will always be days when you forget to chew or something disctracts you and bingo...here we go again. I'm glad you're feeling better.

Oh and someone mentioned meat tenderizer? Umm that only works on Proteins not breads. I hear Papaya tablets help with stuck Proteins too but, I've never tried it.

Gosh, you sure had a bad night!! Just sip warm things today, to calm you. I'm sorry you had to go threw that! I'm terrible for not chewing well, I try and try and I still have alot of improvement. I also have a 4cc band. My first fill was 1cc and the 2nd fill, last week, brought me up to 1.3cc. I think that your fill seems extreme, but your doc must know something we don't. If you do end up getting some out, I certainly wouldnt feel bad, it really does seem like alot!! Good Luck to you, and keep chewing.....(I'll be chewing right along with you..lol).

I'm glad you're feeling better. Take care of your stomach - easy foods for the rest of the day. Maybe even tomorrow, too. I still think 2.5 cc's for a first fill is way too much. I would consider having some taken out - like down to 1.8 at least. You can have more in a couple of weeks or a month. This isn't a marathon. It's your personal journey and it shouldn't be awful.

Now, look at that tortilla. Was it flour or corn? I never eat flour tortilla, but have corn all the time. Mexican food. Yumm.

2.5 on your first fill in a 4cc band? YIKES! I couldn't swallow my own spit when my Dr. pushed me to 1.9 on my second fill (read my LBT journal for that nightmare BS story!!!!!).

2.5 seems very very high to me. I had 1.5ccs of fill when I had my first (only) PB and it lasted for 6 hours so I know how you're feeling. Chances are you haven't done any damamge to your band but you should definitely get an unfill WITH FLURO so your doctor can see your band and make sure it's in the right place.

As far as taking it easy with foods, most doctors will tell you to go on full liquids for at least 24 hours after a PB. My doctor says 3 days full liquids, 3 days mushies, then back to solids following any kind of trauma including PBs, fills, unfills - basically any thing that could cause swelling near your band.

Good luck, tell us how you're doing and if you get an unfill tomorrow.

Ah yes.

This thread recommends the yoga pose - downward facing dog.

Needless to say, no one remembered to post a picture of the actual pose.

For those not familiar with various Yoga techniques and poses - here is a link.

Hope this helps. It sucks to feel 'stuck'. Soft tortillas just don't work for me at my current level of restriction. As a Texan who eats Mexican food (oh, daily, just about) I've found that crunchy beats soft - in the bread & tortilla game. So I can eat well-toasted tortilla chips or nacho chips - but I leave the soft, gooey tortillas alone.

Good Luck

Stitchy: It was a flour tortilla. Lesson learned! Thanks for staying in contact with me last night.

DonnaB: Thanks for sharing your journal. I had read it not too long before I went in for this fill. I can't imagine last night being longer than it was. I don't think I would have survived 6 hours of that.

NewSho: Thanks for posting the link for the pic. That's not how I did it. Maybe that's why bending over the arm of the couch helped. I had more downward gravity.

I'll call their office in the morning. I'll post what happens.

Till then, liquids. I can feel that I am very swollen. Even the yogurt smoothie feels like to much. Back to clear for awhile.

I hope my band survived this.

I'm sure your band is OK. Once is not going to hurt you. Continuing that activity might. Call you doctor for reassurance. It will make you feel better mentally, anyway.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

      2. BlondePatriotInCDA

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
