butterbean 30 Posted May 17, 2012 I have these labs scheduled: ferritin H pylori hgc a1c Iron iron biding capacity lipid panel metabolic panel parathormone I am self pay, and I've paid for my surgery, but now I'm concerned over what the cost of these labs will be. My pcp had a few iron test completed a year ago. I wish he would write the lab order so my insurance would cover at least some of the labs. :/ My insurance doesn't cover any part of WLS, no exceptions. Am I looking at 500? 5000??? Lauranbob Mc 94 Posted May 17, 2012 see if you can have your PCP order them for part of your yearly bloodwork. some of it should be covered then. then you can have the results transferred to your WLS MD. If your PCP if pro WLS he will help you out. 1 butterbean reacted to this
PEvette 297 Posted May 17, 2012 My insurance is paying 80% for that....all of my pre-op stuff my insurance covered 80% of it....see if your insurance can do the same for you...
LaBelle509 326 Posted May 17, 2012 I did all my labs through my PCP including the chest XRY and EKG. If I remember correctly they were submitted under physical. 1 Lauranbob Mc reacted to this

butterbean 30 Posted May 17, 2012 thanks you all. I'm going to try to get my pcp to rewrite the lab order. I feel shady about it, but I pay for my state health insurance...i need to use it for something I guess!
LaBelle509 326 Posted May 17, 2012 Don't feel that way! My PCP was very happy with my decision to have the procedure done. She looked into what the insurance will agree to cover. All the requested labs were. She would not do anything unethical as much as she loves me lol! So I'm sure your PCP will follow the guidelines and get you what you need.
