I ate some potted meat, but you're probably talking about sliced meat. My booklet from my doctor said "If you can chew it, don't do it."

For soft/mushy foods, it was if you CAN chew it, don't eat it.

My surgeon okay-ed soft deli meat at the soft diet, but everyone has a different surgeon. I would refer back to what guidelines you were given.

I had my surgery on 4/9/12. I went back to work on 5/7/12. I got Sara Lee low sodium deli turkey sliced thin (wanted Jenny O but our Walmart no longer carries it). I also got light Laughing Cow cheese...different flavores. For my lunch I bring 2.5 oz of turkey and 1-2 wedges of cheese. I spread the cheese on the turkey and roll it up and it is very delicious and I am getting my Protein in. It is very easy to chew and I even got the buffalo style and had no problems with it. Hope this helps.

I purchased the Bento boxes recommended on Eggface which I use for work and those are awesome. I have my whole days worth of food in there--everything from Eggbeaters to refried Beans, string cheese, shredded cheeses, yogurts, etc, etc--and they are a great tool for providing a visual of my daily Protein requirments.

WARNING: Beware evil nitrates folks!! lunch meats are full of processed garbage salt and nitrates.

Your body needs super efficient and hight quality food now - you don't have the room for extras so select your food carefully.

I was allowed lunch meats two weeks after surgery. But I found them very salty. Mustard helps, but who needs all that salt?

I am 3 weeks out and I took 1/2 of a Ckn breast & put it in my food processor & diced it really small & added a little light miracle whip. It was quite delicious. I haven't tried lunch meat yet. But. I think if u just chew it really good u will b ok. I have been eating Soups with chicken in it & just chewing it really well. And I have been ok. Good luck!

My soft foods stage allowed for deli chicken and turkey. I often ate a slice wrapped around a cheese stick with a mayo + mustard combo.

I researched deli meats fairly extensively in the days when I was doing a low carb diet. The cleanest I found (in terms of filers, nitrates, etc.) was with Boar's Head brand. At least then, it was the best by far. The local store that carried them has since changed into something else so now I buy the "Healthy Ones" brand (might be Sara Lee).

Boar's Head uses only the finest quality raw materials to produce our products. Our deli meats and cheese contain no fillers, gluten, artificial flavors, colors or trans fat

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
