windycitymom 60 Posted May 16, 2012 I've had a couple days where in the afternoon I have to spit out saliva and I have a tightness in my chest/ribs. Is that "sliming"? what causes this?
FishingNurse 1,211 Posted May 16, 2012 In my expirence it is your body's way of trying to lubricate the food out of your stomach, sometimes I sneeze or get a runny nose as well. I feel like this happens when you eat too much, too fast, or a texture doesn't agree with your sleeve, or don't chew well enough. This happended to me about 6 times total. It was awful! 1 gramaof4 reacted to this
Calicolea 38 Posted May 16, 2012 If it's the same as a lap band, sliming is when the opening to your stomach is very tight and your body thinks something is caught so it over produces saliva to try and wash away the obstruction, causing your mouth to fill with saliva. I had this happen countless times with the band but not with my sleeve, but only had surgery on the 4th. Maybe you are having some swelling around your sleeve that is causing the tightness and sliming.
