I have only begun my 6 month journey but I find myself coming up with questions as time goes on. Anyone who has had the surgery or knows someone who has had surgery, is excess skin an issue? I am going to have surgery and lose weight no matter what but I am interested in knowing if anyone has an issue with extra skin.

I am lucky and I am at goal and have no lose skin. Down 90+ pounds. I would say I am on the younger end of the spectrum and I am still considered slightly chubby or thick-- and that helps. I am happy with how I look, and I am healthy so that is the most important part.

There's a thread in the post-op forum about possible ways to avoid loose skin. Some people swear they work and others say there's nothing you can do short of plastic surgery. It's worth a look and worth a try. (I've started doing some of the tips there.) Good luck!

I have excess skin, but would I call it an issue? No

Do I have a lot? No

I can pinch half and inch on my thighs and arms. About and inch on my hiney. My torso is where I held most of my fat as I think most guys do, so that is where I have most of my extra skin. I can pinch a good 2, 3 inches just about anywhere there. I also have the turkey skin under by chin.

2 years post op, I will assess where I am at with the excess skin. I am relatively young (45), but I was a smoker and have gained and lost weight over the years, which will cost me in the skin elasticity department. I'll wait until then to worry about what I am going to do, but until then, I am going to work out and get my fluids. There is a great post that has been stickied concerning excess skin.

I'll definately take the turkey neck over the high blood pressure, type 2 diabetes, heavy breathing climbing stairs ...

I just ran across a lady on these boards who is not losing to a "normal" BMI because she wants to avoid too much excess skin and the plastics. She did start with a BMI in the mid 50s though.

I have noticeable excess skin under my arms, on my upper, inner thighs. My poor boobies are deflated tube socks, but those can be stuffed in a bra. The skin is somewhat lose everywhere else but not sos you'd notice and not on my face.

My real problem is my lower stomach above my C-section scar and below the navel. Plastic scare me to death, but I do not think I can deal with this forever. I have 50 pounds to go and it's just going to get worse. At my age (47) all this skin ain't going anywhere.

That said: when I lost 80 pounds in my 30s with Phetermine, my pooch was not as bad. You look pretty young. It might not be an issue. Like everyone here will tell you: Having a little extra skin is a trade I'd make any day.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
