mome2mad 19 Posted May 16, 2012 My surgery is in 2 weeks and I'm just curious about how much weight everyone lost their first week post op! I know everyone is different but I'm just trying to get an average!

MyGastricSleeveLife 180 Posted May 16, 2012 The week after might be tricky because of the surgical gas and stress of surgery. I just had surgery on Monday. My weight at home before going to the hospital was 264.2, but yesterday when the hospital weighed me I was 270.1. Today I'm at 268 on my scale. I know that the increase is just because of the surgical gas and inflammation and IV fluids & such from surgery. I'm positive I will drop back to the 264 and below that with no problem in the next few days. Most people lose the most weight the first month after surgery (many I've seen anywhere from 20-50 lbs) and then it's a little less for the next few months (like 8-15lbs) & then drops to what most normal people lose (5-10 lbs) per month after the first 6 months or so. Again, everyone is different, so you may lose more or less in the same amount of time as someone else. This is just from what I've read in other threads here as far as what I've seen. mome2mad 19 Posted May 16, 2012 Thanks! My Aunt lost 25lbs her first week but then a friend of mine lost 10lb. I'm just curious! I know that the gas and Fluid is a big deal right after! I will try to not let that get me discouraged!
MyGastricSleeveLife 180 Posted May 16, 2012 There are so many things that come into play when losing, it's really important not to compare yourself to others & just trust that if you stick to your plan you'll be successful!
