Sorry you are going thru such horrible nausea.... that must be horrible. Is the doctor giving you anti-nausea meds? My doctor started mine in my IV before surgery and continued them until I was discharged. I didn't have any nausea.

Hang in there....... Big hugs!

I was also major nauseous the 2nd day.

They were trying to get me to drink Lots of Propel. It made me so sick

It got me another day in the hospital.

They have you on Protein already? Maybe that's what is making you sick? They gave me Zofran, pepcid, gas pills every few hours. Plus I felt so fevery. By the time I woke up on the third day, I felt tons better, and was begging to go home.

Being home was so soothing and comforting.

It does get better, I'm exactly 3 weeks post op today!! I'm saying a prayer for your rapid healing . Take Care, and keep us posted.

Raven,

So sorry you are naustious. It will get better, dear sleever. You are so in my prayers for relief.

I did not eat Protein my first week. The dr told me not to br concerned about it this week. The hospital served me Water, sf Popsicles, tea, and sf Jello.

I hope they are giving you lots of nausea meds. We are pulling for you. Warm hugs and prayers being rushed you way.

I'm sorry your having such issues with nausea. I had some issues, but the stuff for the iv worked well to stop mine. My main issue is pain. :(

Things seem to be taking a turn for the better finally. I was on so many IV anti-nausea medication just because one wouldnt last long enough they had to give me another. But I actually got some protien down this morning and can drink Water without vomiting, and feel a little bit more like myself again. That was the roughest 48 hours of my life I think. Never thought it would get that bad. But at least the worst is behind me now. Thanks for your support guys.

Just wanted to let everyone know, that every hour things are starting to feel better for me. It is still worth it all knowing that my new journey is beginning this week. I expected to have some bumps (maybe not that big) but I am still glad I went throught his. So glad I have you guys during the rough times. I just hope I can help someone else out that may have a similar experience as I did the first couple days. Don't ever let anything say this is the "easy way out" not by far.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
