I am just about 3 weeks post-op and really want a salad. Does anyone know how long I should wait?

Oh man, I hear you. I remember early out I just craved any food with texture. Salads, especially. But ... salads are difficult for the stomach to digest. A normal one, even. So, a sleeved one needs some time. I believe I was about 3 months out before I slowly introduced them. I started with iceburg and slowly added romain, then added spinach. At about 6 months I was able to eat anything. Having a romain and spinach with tuna and blue cheese crumbles for lunch today.

Yum!!

I am not sure but I believe I was 5-6 weeks out before I tried one...no issues either.

I asked the same question earlier today. I will be one month post-op tomorrow and am craving a salad as well... I am going to wait a few more weeks though.... :)

That seems really soon to be eating salads. At 3 weeks post-op, I was just eating mushy and soft foods.

The first time I ate a salad must have been at the 1 or 2 month post-op point, and I vomited it all up. I thought I could eat some of my favorite Chopped chicken Cobb salad from Panera, WOW I was wrong.

I haven't eaten a salad since out of fear. I probably could now at 9 months post-op.

If I were you, I'd wait another 1-2 months. That's just me speaking from personal experience, though. Your sleeve might not be as sensitive as mine.

I think I'll wait for that salad. Nothing has made me sick as of yet. However I don't want to push it. I have eaten a few non-mushy foods and felt fine. It still amazes me how little it takes to feel full.

Thanks for the replies. It's so much better to get answers from people that have done this.

My Surgeon told me no raw fruit and veggies until 4 months post op. I am almost 3 months post op and will kill for a bite of ice cold, crunchy cucumber!!!

I get my first "salad" this Friday and I am so excited! Ironically, I posted this same thing just a couple of weeks ago!

I'm about 31/2 months out and have been able to eat salad just fine. So far I've tried spinach and ice berg toppings normally are tomatoes, cucumbers, black olives and shredded cheese. I love it and it taste great but I can only do about 4 bites and I'm full. It's funny I just told one of my co workers this morning that I don't really crave sweets but I do crave salads even more so than meat.< /p>

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
