Waiting Instead Of Living

Recommended Posts

So I began this morning like a cat on a hot tin roof. When will I get approved? When will I get scheduled? When will I be thin? I was a MESS! Then I remembered a movie I saw years ago. (This is the version I remember) A man had a clicker that would allow him to fast forward through the boring parts of his life to the good parts so he didn't have to wait. At first he clicked through a boring dinner with his in-laws. Of course his wife was ticked because he sat through dinner like a zombie, so he clicked through the fight with her about that. But then he started to make bigger jumps like the months he had to wait for his promotion. Soon he found himself old, his wife gone, and his adult children were strangers to him. He then realized all the "boring" moments in-between the things he was waiting for were the things that really mattered. So now I'm calm, back at my desk working and determined to enjoy each moment between those things above that I mentioned. Sure, the destinations are great, but the journey is what our lives are all about. Take a deep breath and enjoy today.

G.

P.S. The movie with Click with Adam Sandler.

I spent the time gathering recipes, buying supplies, reading WLS blogs and posting here a lot. I read TheworldaccordingtoEggface.com and WaningWoman.com plus a few others from beginning to present.

I then planned for what I was going to do with my 3 week "vacation." I planned all kinds of mini trips to semi local and local places I never get a chance to visit because I work. Thank goodness my husband had some time off.

I went to a train museum, a wildcat conservatory, a living history museum and pick your own type farm, a flea market, a livestock auction, walked along the beach and went for a horseback ride (the ride was after my two week clearance).

I love to plan. Why be bored at all? I did sort of have an easy recovery though. Some do and some don't.

I LOVE these ideas. I won't take much time off because I work at home on a computer but I'm going to start gathering recipes, checking out TheworldaccordingtoEggface.com and WaningWoman.com Thanks so much!

Just make sure you get up and walk frequently. Sitting all day is really hard on a person. i should know. My job keeps me in front of a computer all day long.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
