What Is Going On With Me?

Recommended Posts

I'm not real familiar with the symptoms of dehydration but I have been having some weird stuff lately. I can't focus my eyes, which makes driving near impossible. It feels as if the room is spinning when I'm sitting down and I have to keep looking away when I'm talking to someone because they become so blurry it's painful. Even typing this out I have to look away every so often to regain focus.

I also am having this weird numbing in my legs. If I pinch my legs I feel that. The sensation reminds me of when they inject your gum with novacane and then the whole side of your face goes numb. If you touch or pinch it you can feel that but otherwise it just feels....different. I don't know, it's really weird. The numbness travels too, it's mostly in my legs but sometimes in my stomach, sometimes my breasts, etc. I don't know. Between that and the vision thing I'm thinking of making an appointment with a neurologist but I wanted to see if you all had an idea first. For all I know this is all completely unrelated to the surgery but seeing as how I was abnormally healthy all my life given my weight I'm assuming it's somehow related. It very well could be me not eating or drinking enough of the right things but I don't know what those would be.

Any ideas would be really appreciated!

Call your Dr. ASAP. It almost sounds like a blood sugar problem. Anyone else?

I would defently say it is a blood surgar probelm. I am diabetic and that is how I get if my blood surgar are to low. I get like this drunk feeling almost and then very dizzy. My eyes dont go wacky but some peoples do. i would call them right a way just to make sure you are ok. If you are not getting in your Protein and Water then your blood sugars could be dropping.

Spainter, any advise on something quick she could eat to offer temporary help?

slowly eat a small spoon of Peanut Butter. If you feel improvement shortly thereafter then you know it was your blood sugar. If not, then followup with a phone call to your Dr. office.

Some of what you're talking about could be a blood clot. Call your DR. immediately. If you can't get the doctore, call 911. Some of it could be blood sugar , but it could be something else.....DON'T WAIT and make sure you are NOT alone!!

I have the numbness in my legs too so that might be unrelated to your other symptoms but it is a weird feeling.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
