I am 200 lbs and my goal weight is 135 (high range for my height). My surgeon says that I will only get down to 150 (which is still considered overweight). I have already lost 30 pounds getting ready for surgery. Is it wrong for me to think that I can lose more than 50 pounds after being sleeved?

I dont think there is a limit that you can lose, sometimes you have to be careful not to lose too much, because it can happen.

You can lose as much as you want to lose. It's up to you. You'll have to exercise and stay on track with Protein and Water, but there is no reason you can't get to your goal. You can also choose to change that goal if you feel unhealthy or don't like the way you look at "goal".

I agree, I think how much you loose is up to you. There are statistics about weight loss, but that is just that, a number. We are not numbers, we are people. I just saw my surgeon for my 3 month post op check. I had lost 50 pounds since surgery. He told me if I was disciplined and worked hard, I could easily loose another 50 (if that is what I wanted). So it all lies with what you want and how much work you put into it. You will do great!

Im 5'2" weigh exactly the same and have exactly the same goal...my surgeon hasnt specifically given me a weight that he thinks I will get too. Watching tonsvof videos Ive noticed that everyones weight loss is totally different. 135 may be my goal but that dosnt nessarily mean thats were I want to stop. Im going to give it my all and not be satisfied with a number that someone else has given me... Btw I scheduled for surgery june 8th, good luck!

I'm 5'1" and told my PCP that my goal was 130. He said that I would be lucky to see 160. I don't understand why he thinks my goal isn't obtainable. I was 120 through college. I certainly don't think 160 is healthy for 5'1".

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
