Shoe_Vixen 23 Posted May 15, 2012 Hi, Im new and like all of you I decided to make a positive change with my life and shed this weight! I just recently decided to forgo the LapBand for VSG and so far Im super happy with my choice. I dont have an official surgery day yet, Im still in pre-op with a majority of my testing being done tomorrow (sono, chest xray, labs, pulmonary). Im hoping it wont be much longer as my insurance has approved everything so far with no resistance. Just wanted to say hi and Im looking forward to getting to know everyone =)

Reet 18 Posted May 15, 2012 I am SO glad I did this. There is one person in my support group meetings that had the band, the rest of us had the sleeve. He said that he is so sorry he chose the band; he should have gone with the sleeve. I'm only 4+ weeks post surgery & every day is better & better. My back doesn't hurt & my sleep apnea is gone! 1 nicmack31 reacted to this
Lissa 2,631 Posted May 15, 2012 Reet, I'm jealous that your sleep apnea is gone! Mine is still refusing to leave the building! But, it's improved some, so there is hope!
Reet 18 Posted May 15, 2012 My doctor wants me to come back next week & I know he is going to order another sleep apnea test at the hospital. But, my mind is made up; I'm done. Not doing it. I stopped using the machine 2 weeks post op. I couldn't stand the feeling; it felt like it was blowing way to hard. Called the doc, they can only change the settings my the doctor's order & he wants to see me. So I stopped using it. My husband tells me I no longer snore & I feel good in the morning. 1 Lissa reacted to this

Reet I too have sleep apnea and hoping it will change after my surgery in June. When I first was diagnosed my doctor had my settings REALLY high and it was causing me some discomfort for a good while even after I got use to using the machine. So I did a search on the internet, found the way to lower my settings and poof! my discomfort disappeared. When I went in for my yearly check up with my doc I told him what I did and he made note in my file about it. He said that was fine, as long as I am using the machine and didn't change the settings way low, he wasn't bothered by what I did. I don't know what brand of machine you are using or were using but check on the internet and see if you can find a way to lower the settings some. I know what you mean about the sleep study, I hate doing that and probably won't do another one to find out if I can stop using it. Just thought I would pass this info on to you in case it might help.
