luckylady131 51 Posted May 14, 2012 I keep reading how many people dislike Protein Shakes on here. I was curious as to whether most of those people didn't drink Protein shakes before their WLS journey and that's why they dislike them? I drink a Protein shake at least once a day, as does my husband - it's usually our Breakfast. So I am very used to them. I have tried several brands and do find some better than others (right now my favorite is Chike) - but i haven't tried most of the brands people talk about on here yet (powders?utm_source=BariatricPal&utm_medium=Affiliate&utm_campaign=CommentLink" target="_ad" data-id="1" >unjury, etc). I haven't been sleeved yet, and am not on the pre-op diet yet either. Just curious how much my tastes will change after the surgery? I really enjoy my protein shakes actually. I miss it if I miss my breakfast one.
shortypants 26 Posted May 14, 2012 I ordered a whole bunch of different brands/flavors, and did not drink them until after surgery (last monday), due to the fact that people say your taste buds change. So far mine have not, and I like almost all of them. The Unjury strawberry sorbet was so gross.....good luck!
disneyteach 68 Posted May 15, 2012 I hated Bariactric Advantage, so I went to GNC on the recommendation of someone in this forum and got GNC Total Lean shake. YUMMY! So you have to try out different ones.
Shilo30 16 Posted May 15, 2012 I was told by my Nut. that Ensure High Fiber was ok pre and post op and I really enjoy it actually. But I got a bunch of the Premier brand from costco on sale this weekend for post op.
butterbean 30 Posted May 15, 2012 Aren't most Protein Shakes like 12 or 16 ounces? I'm thinking of the ones you make in the blender with water/milk/ice. How do you have one for breakfast, it's so big! I have and love shakeology, but thought i wouldn't be able to use them, and was looking and buying Protein Shots instead? Can someone explain please? Lissa 2,631 Posted May 15, 2012 Don't buy Protein shots! The protein in them is NOT readily available to our bodies. It is often made from hydrolized collagen, which is not good for us. Wheetsin made a great post about it a few days ago, citing the science behind why whey protein is so much better and more available for humans.
