Swimmer 199 Posted May 13, 2012 I have been on prilosec since surgery and tried to go without and couldn't at three months. A friend's doctor said she only needed it for a month. So I'm curious are you still taking one or did you just need it for a month. I'm thinking I'll be on it forever and that's ok.
CamarilloCA 41 Posted May 13, 2012 I've been on it for about six weeks, and I just asked my doctor if I could increase the dosage from one pill a day to two due to a acid stomach at night. He said that I could and that I should stay away from foods that cause more acid to occur such as orange juice and chocolate. I don't think we'll have to be on it forever, but I've seen sleevers who had to take it for six months or so.
Foxbins 625 Posted May 13, 2012 I tried to stop at 3 months and couldn't, but when I stopped at 8 months everything was fine. No reflux since I stopped.
gettingthere 11 Posted May 13, 2012 Used something similar to Prilosec which is a proton pump inhibitor (PPI). Gave it up after reading a lot of articles about the link with osteoporosis related fractures.
