I Let Someone Take A Photo, And I Didn't Cringe

Recommended Posts

My best friend of 20 years came to visit me, and I let her take my photo. That is a HUGE NSV for me.

I know I am not where I want to be yet, but I was so happy to see my friend, and also I was wearing a size medium top and size 12 jeans.

I wish I knew how to post the photo! And, I wish (kind of, maybe not) that I had a before photo.

Thanks for your encouragement, Neese!

Congrats! I am pre-op (scheduled for a revision surgery from band on July 9) and usually hate to have photos of myself floating around. I went to a friend's graduate school graduation yesterday and somone insisted I take a photo with her. I went online a little while ago and noticed it is posted on Facebook. It has taken all of my willpower to not untag myself in it.

All of that is to say: Yay! I am proud of you. I am sure you look fantastic!

I have untagged every photo of myself on Facebook over the years. Yay for you for being brave at the graduation!

I haven't had the surgery yet but the picture thing is a huge motivator for me. I have avoided the camera for 8 years now and it makes me so sad that I have no pictures with my kids :(

Congrats to you!

That is AWESOME!!! Such a great feeling to not be hiding behind anyone in pictures. I usually try to find the best camera angles and flattering poses...sometimes it works out, sometimes not so much lol. Sometimes ya just gotta laugh at the awkward picture moments and enjoy it, they end up being the most memorable. :)

This was one of my goals too- to let people take pictures of me and not dread the results. It's funny that one of you mentioned untagging Facebook pictures- I did that quite a bit 80 lbs ago. I really, really hated how I looked in almost all pictures of myself from the shoulders down (and even some face pictures).

Congrats on this NSV!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
