No Weight Loss For 10 Months

Recommended Posts

Hi. I had my surgery Nov 4 2010. I've lost 69 pounds and feel great.... But, I want to to lose the last 40 and it will not come off. I've been working out with a trainer and eatting 1200-1500 calories a day. My Protein is 60 - 80g per day. I don't know what I'm doing wrong. I love my sleeve and so happy I did this but just wish this last 40 would go away  . I eat 5 small meals a day. Usually about 6oz servings. I'm worried I've lost all I will lose. I've been stuck at the same weight for 10 months.

Just my opinion, but I think you need to eat fewer calories. Losing weight through exercise alone, without calorie restriction, is really difficult. Eating what you have been doesn't seem to be working for you. Also, I'd journal your food intake--calories add up fast, especially the small amounts that you might not realize you are eating. Plus, is there a place where you can have your body mass calculated? A BodPod or a dunk tank? That would give you a really good idea of your resting metabolism and how many calories you need to eat to maintain your weight (I'm guessing that it's 1200-1500!) In the meantime, maybe cut back on junk food or nutritionally empty calories for starters and go back to dense Protein first and green veg to fill up.

Mix it up a little. Go low on calories for a day (800 or so) then a couple days back up at you current level and then back down. Also, how often do you work out and for how long? When I hit my goal weight (200 lbs) I bumped up my exercise routine to a total of 10 hours a week (5 days per week) and lost 6 pounds immediately in about two weeks. Also you might want to have a little more carbs and less Protein One day a week. Don't let your body get comfortable with a routine.

Thank you both. I will try to cut back on calories and work out more. I will change it up for a while and hopefully that will kick start the loss again.

Again, thank you!

I agree with the other posters to try lowering your calories a bit while maintaining your Protein. According to my doc, 1200-1500 calories is where I'll be once I'm in maintenance and not wanting to lose or gain more weight. But definitely shake up the exercise routine, and don't forget to drink plenty of fluids -- especially Water. Those serving sizes sound huge to me since I'm still only able to get in 3-4oz at best in my 2-3 "meals" per day, 1-2oz with my 2 Snacks ^_^

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
