Congratulations on your surgery date, and good luck & God speed. I'm getting a little closer to my date in as much as I have my initial meeting with the surgeon on May 17. Good move on purchasing some of your post-op food now so you can give 'em a try .

Congrats. I know it feels like forever, but before you know it may 31 will be here. I would suggest practacing with the slow eating, the whole chewing 30 times takes some getting used to.

Thank you for the advice!

My doctor did not put me on any special diet. As a matter of fact he told me to eat everything I love before my surgery haha! I have been doing just that! I told my husband today that I was going to back off and start testing out some of the Protein Shakes I've bought.

I am trying very hard to not let the waiting consume me!

Your not obsessing your just getting so very exceited. A whole new life is ahead of you. There are many emotions that come into play with WL surgery. As it gets closer you may second guess yourself and start getting nervous. This is all normal. Just keep your eye on the prize. a healthy new you. I had surgery April of 2011 , I always wanted to parasail and well 2 weeks ago in florida I did. What a wonderful gift we are given with this surgery.

Obsess away! You're going to love the new you! It will be so great to be able to walk easier, to feel lighter, and to be able to do what you want to do instead of worrying about whether you'll "fit" somewhere. :)

Just remember this is a tool to help you get to where you want to be. Don't overindulge on unhealthy foods before your surgery. Practice better eating habits and choices so it won't be such a big deal months later. I had surgery last week and I'm just as excited to see my transformation!! Good luck and your date will be here before you know it.

Oh I was the same way! I thought I was going to drive my husband crazy talking about it constantly before the surgery! I even brought my phone to check for updates on threads on the forums almost everywhere I went. I was wayyy too obsessed. It's sooo close! you don't have to wait much longer..Best wishes!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
