Okay, This Is Embarrassing But...

Recommended Posts

So I've always been sensitive to smell, and have always noticed the way people smell (not that I go around sniffing people). Personally unless I've worked out I've never really noticed my own scent to really change much. Yet now that I've been sleeved for a couple of weeks and have dropped a lot of weight fast I notice that...well...a few hours after I shower I seem to start smelling like I've been running a 2 mile exercise routine. (I really can't believe I just admitted that). Kinda a sour smell, which I've always associated with people who are sick. Granted summer is coming, and granted I'm on a ton of medicines right now because of complications I had....but has this happened to anybody else? I'm seriously contemplating switching antiperspirants and soap. Or taking 3 showers a day......

Hey buddy! I haven't noticed it with myself, but I've seen LOTS of posts about it. I'm thinking you're totally normal. :) I hope you've been feeling better!

Sometimes medicines can give you a peculiar smell are they related. As your meds go away the smell might. As for right now why don't you use the clinical secret. It's great and helps A LOT trust me I sweat a lot. Anything above 20-25% aluminum chloride that should do it

Hey! I feel okay, the medicines have been helping a lot and I'm kinda glad that I've stalled for the past week. It's allowed my body to stabilize and has taken some of the strain off my infected kidneys. Work has been awesome especially when they realized that I just couldn't handle a full 8 hour shift with all the bending, stretching, picking up, etc that goes on as a cake decorator. Even my manager told me to go home, and that shocked me as my past managers have had the philosophy that unless you're wearing a toe-tag then your butt better be at work. Apparently I kinda look like hell, but I think each day is a little better. I've been really surprised how many people noticed that I was out of work, found out that that I had surgery, and have stopped by/called/brought flowers. It's....amazing. Astounding. And flattering. I've always tried to be friendly with people at work but you never really notice how you effect other people. Ya know?

How have you been?

I'm willing to try rain dancing while beating a jungle drum and singing the 'My Little Pony' theme song if it'll help! Thank you and I'm definitely gonna check that out!

If you're doing very low-carb it might be a side-effect of ketosis. Not sure if that can occur, but I know that nasty breath and such can happen - wouldn't surprise me if that was the case.

Yes, I'm sure it's the meds. Now that I am only taking my Vitamins I no longer detect the funky smell. It's a small price to pay.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
