2.5 Months Post Op Nausea?

Recommended Posts

Haven't been on in awhile being a single mom who works full time and with exercise there seems to be no time left in the day. Ok my question just recently I've been hit with the worst nausea. Even the thought of food makes me feel sick and i have to force myself to eat. I even resorted to taking the nausea pills i got post op but they don't seem to help. I feel like my mouth is filled with thick saliva YUCK!!!! I'm going to call the doc on monday to see if they can prescribe something. Just curious if anyone else has experienced this????

Sorry to hear about the nausea, but I had/have the same problem after four months. The nurses keep telling me to chew my food better, but that isn't the problem. The foods they tell me to eat, I can't. The foods I can tolerate are more carbs and that is bad for me.

My wife has had nearly zero nausea since her surgery and mine has been rampant. Each week it's a little better, but there is still problems. I hope it gets better for both of us.

Are you taking anything for acid reflux?

I was taking Prilosec but have since stopped that. Its a mistake to get used to that. I now take Betaine HCL, which is a mild form of hydrochorlic acid. The problem isn't too much acid, its that there is not enough of it. The acid pumps have been removed and thereby reducing the amount the stomach can digest. The Betaine is starting to work, but I have to be careful due to the damage of my esophagus from the vomiting.

I don't actually vomit but do feel like at any minute something is going to come up. I do a lot of gagging. I know this has a lot to do with the fact that i hate to eat . I hate walking around with excess saliva in my mouth afraid I'm going to puke at any minute. Up until this point i had no problems......

I understand the situation well. I can eat a couple of ounces of one thing and not feel nauseous, but the next time it will cause problems. Its a hit or miss thing for me.
