September Bandsters

Recommended Posts

I am *FINALLY* starting to feel better. I can sleep through the night and even woke up on my tummy this morning with no discomfort from sleeping on my beachballs - it was great! They are still quite high and look funky but atleast I feel better.

Lisalee: It is funny you ask that... I am way off balance and literally run into door frames and stuff, it sounds so stupid but it's true. Today I almost took out a telcom guy coming out of the data center, I hit the door, it hurt my boobie and howled and spun around and he was right there with a look of horror across his face. I realized I was grasping my boob and my other hand was fisted and an inch away from his crotch... ooops. I'm sorry your fill was not what you expected. Did they leave any fill in? Maybe you need to go super slow like .1 or .2 cc at a time? If you keep running 5 miles you'll leave us all in the dust! Congrats! I wish I could run like that, I'd probably fall over dead half way through, haha.

Karey: Welcome back! Congrats on the awesome vacation and NO GAIN! :clap2: I don't think I have ever gone on vacation and not gained atleat 10lbs, haha.

Lisa: So did they take out all the cc's that they initially put in? I don't blame you for feeling frustrated. Personally, I think that even 2 cc would help you feel fuller. You might be ultra senstive but if the restriction isn't too much on the fluroscope I think that you would get use to it. I find that after a fill I fill a little too tight at first. You might have to take it slowly and be on fluids and soft food for a little longer. I don't know and just wish that you could use your band better to help you. As far as the platueau, don't you think that is normal? I have noticed that a lot of the September bandsters have been plateauing right now. I have been on a 6 week plateau and have finally lost 3 pounds this week. My doctor said patience and exercise are the key. I think that you are doing really well. I guess it comes down to how much are you struggling. Are you hungry all the time? It's not so bad to be able to eat bread, etc, if you can control it and not eat too much. Just some random thoughts. I wish you the best.

Hey Karey I recorded your weight at 0 loss this week, is it 3lbs for this last week?

They didn't take all of the fill out, just what they put in. I still have 1.5cc from my second fill in (the first one leaked out.)

I've just decided to walk between the days I don't run and once again be more conscious of my eating. I feel little restriction, an occasional discomfort if I forget to chew well but nothing too bad. bread, chicken, they go down OK. Maybe I just chew real well.

It's an enigma but I will keep working on it. I wish they could leave 0.1 or 0.2cc in...not sure why they didn't.

I feel like Tammy did a few months ago when she said she was working really hard to lose weight and felt like she had to work too hard for what she paid for it! Oh well, ce la vie.

On a positive note, I'm reallly starting to see muscle definition in my legs and feel more efficient and balanced in general. Life is still good regardless :(

Lisa: Sounds like you've got a good attitude.

Mimin: I didn't see any weight loss until this morning, so I don't know if that counts for the last week or for Monday's total. I just report it on Monday. I was too excited about it to not change my ticker!

Finally....I have lost some weight. Down 4 pounds to 185. I have been exercising my butt off, it finally paid off.

On a sadder note 2 of my "precious" dogs were playing with the cat last night and when things got too quiet I came out in the living room to find my sweet kitty dead of a broken neck. I am heartbroken since now I have lost my kitty and will be sending off the dogs to the pound. I went to bed with no appetite last night...just a lot of tears.

Hi ya'll! Hope everyone had a happy Easter. I have totally lost my will power lately! We had lasagna Saturday (and some leftovers on Sun., too), honey-glazed spiral ham, and I indulged in some sugar bombs disguised as cinnamon rolls. Uggggh. On the postive side, I ate no chocolate, and I'm down a pound for the week! So, hey, I'll take my victories where I can!

I'm still doing the spinning classes, 5-6 days a week, plus some strength training. But, it's like my body has decided that's the "norm" now, and I'm not dropping the weight like I did in the beginning. Of course, laying off the goodies would help!

Lisa, congrats on the loss! You are literally running your butt off! That's awesome. I'm surprised, too, that the doc didn't leave in an extra .1 or .2 cc. I know the tiniest amount can make a difference when you're close to optimum restriction.

Karey, sounds like you're doing very well, too! Isn't it great to have a nice drop when you get back from vacation? I used to actually dread vacations because I knew I'd blow the diet du jour, and gain several pounds.

Did ya'll see on another thread where one of our September bandsters (Corey) made it to 100 lb. loss? Congrats, Corey!!!

Mim, glad you're feeling more comfortable. You know, I was considering getting some work done, but now I just don't know. I worry about being knocked off my routine, especially the exercise. How is your energy level? Are you able to get active yet?

Tami

I am in a pretty good mood today. I Finally got on the scale yesterday and it read... 177lbs! all that crap I gained in the beginning is gone! The implants weigh approx 4lbs (give or take a few oz) so in theory without them I would weigh 173lbs but that is just theory:)

Tami: My energy levels are getting better but for awhile they were pretty low. I can't wait to get back into the gym! I walk the neighborhood right now to get some movement but I have to take it easy but come Friday I am back in full speed. I would be lying if I said it has not screwed up my routine but I am determined to get back into it.

Lisa ***hugs*** I am so sorry that happened to your kitty:( I can't even start to imagine how horrible you feel. That is a fear of mine, my bulldog although very sweet wants to play with the cats and they are just so much smaller than he is. I am sorry:(

Lisa: Sorry about your kitty! How upsetting!

Mimin: Reporting a 4 pound loss for this week. Am having some serious health issues which I will probably share when I see the doctor tomorrow and get the official verdict. (Nothing lapband related).

Why is chocolate so easy to eat? I *LOVE* chocolate, always have and always will and I have ate more in the last 2 days then I should in a year! I hate that it is so easy to eat - it never gets stuck and I never feel 'full' from it. Everyone knows chocolate and Peanut Butter is my downfall and they all tell me they have it... "miriam I have some reeses mini eggs if you want please help yourself" ARGH... I wish people would leave their damn chocolate at home and not subject me to the temptations sitting on every desk corner.... haha!

MimIn, I known exactly what you mean! On the inpatient unit where I work they keep it in little baskets everywhere! It's awful.

Today I felt very restricted, which I attribute to the crisis over the weekend...and a cold. I was unable to eat Breakfast and a few bites of eggs, and refried Beans. Don't you know I headed straight for the chocolate and ate several handfuls of M&Ms? Why couldn't I just leave it alone!?! I think I have an addiction.

BTW thanks to all for you kind words and sympathy for my kitty. It's hard to put into words how much these mere creatures mean to some of us. May be silly, but that's how it is!

I love chocolate too! I think that chocolate is my favorite vegetable! I had a terrible scare this week. I woke up on Tuesday with numbness on my entire left side. My left side was very weak also. I could talk and walk, thankfully. My doctor saw me right a way and then if was off to a neurologist and then to the hospital for MRI's. I just got the results back today and I am thanking my lucky stars that I did not have a stroke or a brain tumor! What did happen? The doctors aren't sure, but the weakness is leaving and the numbness has turned to a strange tingling sensation. If I have any more episodes than they will pursue MS and spinal problems. Right now the diagnosis is an atypical Migraine (anyone have these symptoms with a migraine?) or that I got a neurotoxin when I was snorkeling in the Dominican Republic. I was stung by something on my arm and leg (there were jelly fish in the area). I didn't think much of the stings because they didn't leave a mark or a rash and were only uncomfortable for a few moments. Wierd huh? Well, I just wanted to share. I have been scared and nervous ( and not allowed to exercise). Hopefully, all will go well now. Be thankful for your normal lives!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
