M.O.M. 194 for me. I am very thankful that even though I did not lose I did not gain. Especially after the week I have had of experimenting with regular food. I have 3 more weeks before a fill and the weight loss has come to a stand still.

I'm down 3 lbs. this week, for a total of -8 towards my challenge goal. I had my first fill a week ago, and I do have some restriction. I thought I was eating slow before, but now it's at a snail's pace! I had to give up on Cereal with milk because it gets too soggy after just a couple of bites. But, I'm glad that (so far) I haven't had anything come back up.

Life is good.

I didn't do too well this weekend, went out of town. I actually thought I'd gain. Go for first fill Wednesday, hope it helps. I'm hungry all the time, I'm afraid to buy my candy for trick or treaters. In years past I eat most of it and have to buy more!!! I'm gonna wait to buy it this weekend and hide it in my trunk!

I am kind of new to this website...could someone tell me about the Christmas Challenge. I really want to be involved. I was banded on September 6th. Had my first fill on October 17th. Some restriction, but

not a lot. Go back again on the 31st.

RitaAnn: Thanks for the M. O. Magnesia advice. Things seem to have righted themselves in that department for me, finally.

I am really getting nervous about tomorrow though. I have been off-line because my kids from CA have been here (just left) since Friday AM, and I just read several posts about peoples' first fills. They all said it hurt. I asked my doc's nurse if it hurts and she said, not at all.

Diet wise, I was a really good girl at first while the kids were here. Yesterday though, I lost it. Now my really good weight loss for the week is down to 1 lb. I do go for my first fill tomorrow though. Any advice on the fill experience?

M.O.M. I lost 1 lb. so I'm now at 191. Bet I do better next week!

Ok here is the revised list as of 6:30 this evening. Good news I have a fill appointment this Thrusday!!! I finally found a doc in San Antonio that will do fills for folks who had the surgery in Mexico! I'm so excited that I don't have to travel to Houston or Dallas. Living in Austin, San Antonio is so much closer. I have'nt been losing much, but that could have to do with not practicing the 10 new eating habits! of course and the portions, but I am working on that. Stay on Track MOM!! Stay on TRACK!

I do hope everyone had a great weekend and drank all their water! I'm not getting discourged so you guys can't either. Great things are happening!

It was once said: I will be the person I was meant to be!

I was banded after you....sadly, I can eat pizza. My nutritionist has me on modified regular diet...I think that was a mistake...scale hasn't moved in 2 weeks...ugh only 3 1/2 weeks out. I think I want to try to go back to mushies...but I am afraid because I do get hungry during the day. i can't wait till I get a fill 12/1.

Also, I have a huge lump (golfball size) right where my port is...anyone else experience this??? The docs office said (over the phone) could just be Fluid build up....hmmmmm. Its rock hard and annoying...too close to my ribs. I lost a lot of weight the first week and then was worried...hmm I guess you must be careful what you wish for huh??

Yes, I'm on full foods not and can only think about what I won't be able to eat once I get a fill or two - so I'm enjoying myself a little too much with the thinks I couldn't have the first few weeks.

Lump: I had it also for a few days - it went away, so I figure it was just gas. It always seems so much worse when it's happening, but as soon as it goes away we don't care what it was - funny. :)

Hi all! I feel guilty for not checking in sooner but life has a way of getting the best of our time. I noticed that I have not posted a weight as of yet. I guess a part of me is still having difficulty believing it is possible that I could truly be loosing weight (finally? after so many years of failure?) I am happy to report that I started out at 238 on september 19th and today weighed in at 218. Twenty pounds! I actually had to get on the scale a couple of times to believe it. I am getting nervous though, it seems my ability to consume portions is getting greater and greater. I am scheduled for a fill on the 30th so I am sure that will help. I am actually looking forward to that!

As far as cooking chicken....I made a wonderful meal this week....I cooked chicken breasts with a little olive oil, vegetables and spices in one of those turkey bags for a couple of hours at about 275 degrees. It was fantastic and incredibly tender. I chewed it well and had no difficulty getting it down.

Good luck to all.

Lisalee

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
