BJean 16 Posted October 16, 2006 Lifelongband: My DH ALWAYS overcooks the chicken on the grill. People try to be polite, but when you have to cut off the charred skin and the middle is really dry, it's hard to gag it down! For me now, it's impossible. What kind of cake pan? Do you cover it? What did you say you put on it?
BJean 16 Posted October 16, 2006 MOM: Evenin' to you too. I am really worried about tomorrow's weigh in. I sure hope I haven't gained. But I won't be surprised if I have. This weekend was less than perfect. I'm finally understanding why people get so anxious for their first fill. I don't get mine until a week from Tuesday. And I can hardly wait! When do you get yours? Thanks again for tallying all the stats!
lifelongband 0 Posted October 16, 2006 What kind of cake pan? Do you cover it? What did you say you put on it? I just grabbed a small square pan that is deep. I didn't cover it. I cook most meats on 350 degrees. It sometimes takes a little longer, but it turns out much more moist. I tried something new tonight. I had some turkey breast. I added some salt, pepper, garlic powder, and Olive oil. I added a half an onion, yellow and orange pepper, frozen peas, and frozen broccoli. I cooked it on 350 degrees for about 35-45 minutes. I can't remember how long. It turned out wonderful!! I hope this helps. Erin
BJean 16 Posted October 16, 2006 Wow Erin the turkey thing sounds great. I think I'll try it this week. Thanks!
mariecarmen 1 Posted October 16, 2006 This might help someone out there. You know those free turkeys that accumulate from the supermarket when you spend X amount of dollars? It's $300 at Shop Rite and I can pretty much do that in my sleep. I defrosted and cooked on last weekend. My husband was delighted to have an unexpected Thanksgiving meal, that was nice thing #1. I removed all the meats, seperated it into light and dark, and put each in a ziplock bag in the freezer. I guess you could further divide by 3 oz individual ziplocks. Nice thing #2. I made fresh no salt, low fat turkey broth from the carcass and froze it for use in future recipes. Nice thing #3. All in all, that turkey sure made me happy. sunnshyne411 0 Posted October 16, 2006 Hey you guys, I am at the point where I'm getting very nervous that I'm going to gain weight. The post-surgery loss has been so fabulous. I'm definitely not losing at that rate now. I don't want to lose ground on my journey to slimness, by gaining weight before my first fill. But my thoughts of food have returned, and I find myself eating more than I have been eating, and more than I need to be satisfied. I keep forgetting that I can eat again - when I'm hungry. I don't have to eat it ALL right now, like I did before the LB! I keep forgetting to drink the Water too. I know that is hindering my feelings of not being hungry. Ok, so back to the water! MOM - that's amazing that you got to see your actual innerds and surgery!! What an inspiration! I sure hope your ovary problem is resolved or will be easily taken care of. Bjean, you are not alone since my surgery 9/28/06 I have gaiend three pounds and it is very discouraging. Yes, the desire to eat will return and with a venegance. i have been also struggling with getting in the proper amounts of liquids, and I have only had two BM since the surgery. So I am also annoyed. I go back for a post op visit Thursday, and i am dreading getting on the scale. I never feel any restriction while i am eating and I find that I can pretty much eat what ever I like. I have noticed that if I eat too quick I get a very uncomfortable feeling. So I am trying to hang in there. I have been told not to worry about the weight gain but I can't help it. So you are not alone in the struggle.
mom of many 0 Posted October 16, 2006 Morning everyone, I'm only 1 lb down, but I understand. I have slowed to a crawl and did'nt expect much. I still can't get a fill for 2 more week according to doc. So with that said, I'll post the list as soon as I get most of the weigh ins. Please remember to weigh in today! TamifromAL 1 Posted October 16, 2006 Good morning, ya'll! I'm down five pounds this morning. :biggrin1: I go for my first fill this afternoon, and I have really mixed feelings about it. I've been losing consistently, and in a way I don't want the extra challenges that may come with restriction unless I feel like I really NEED it. Yet, on the other hand, I want to make full use of this tool I paid $14,000 for! (Self-pay). I guess I'll see what the doc has to say about it. But, anyway, I'm absolutely thrilled with how it's gone so far. I don't really feel like I'm "dieting" at all, since I'm eating a wide variety of foods. But, I'm pretty much staying under 1,000 calories/day. Hope everyone has a great week! Tami
BJean 16 Posted October 16, 2006 Sunnshyne411: Thanks darlin'. Appreciate those encouraging words! I too have had some BM problems. In fact, more than I'd like to admit. My doc told me to keep some Dulcolax suppositories in my 'fridge, just in case that happened. I've only used it once and didn't notice help right away. So I've just been hanging in there. But I can tell you this, the times I have had a decent BM, I have lost weight. Coincidence, I think not. LOL
