I'm Having A Liquid Diet Breakdown

Recommended Posts

I have to go on a diet starting 7 days before the op. I am allowed 0% fat yoghurt, bovril, sugar free jelly and 1/2 a pint of skimmed milk a day. It seems everyone else is on a different diet from me.

Just got done crying in the kitchen while looking at this NASTY broth!

I'm ready to do this' date=' but the thought of not being to have anything filling or with flavor for the next month of so is really getting to me.

I think homeless people eat more food than this, 10 day liquid diet blows!....

I'm 6 days into this, and cranky! luckily today was my last day at work because i feel a total breakdown coming...

Ok i'm done venting, i did cheat and eat 2 crackers with my wonderful yuky broth.. ..

Thanks for listening. :)

The doctor put my husband on a liquid diet immediately because he needed to lose weight BEFORE surgery. Since it's not his 2 week pre-op diet, he adds mushrooms to his broth. That way he actually gets something to chew. There are a lot of bariatric food websites that offer different Soups. Have you looked to see if there's some out there that have better flavor, but your doctor will approve of?

no offense but' date=' yeah, you want something tasty...but I'm not trying to have a stroke either.....ijs....[/quote']

Honestly, if you log all the food you use to eat next to a packet of ramen noodles spice, you will find out that sodium, if it causes a stroke, should have happened a long time ago. Myfitnesspal shows sodium for your food and my goodness, I see why my doctor wants me on a low sodium diet. I am in the red every day! They do have low sodium noodles packets.

Does everyone pre op have to go on this liquid diet i have yet to hear anything about it and would like to prepare for the suffering if this is necessary

My doctor requires 2 weeks of liquid diet immediately before surgery. Since my husband weighed over 400. The doctor said he would have to lose weight to lessen chance of complications. He has lost 21 pounds in 2 weeks and is ecstatic!

interesting I was told only Optifast and Clear Liquids. It was hard but really wanted to heal good after surgery. I did it. Glad I did. Hang in there!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Had a sleeve in 2017, lost over 100 pounds. Had a DS surgery this year (2025) for more sustainable weight loss. 🤞

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
