I did till I saw the NUT for the first time...and she laid the "law" down as far as my particular program requirements...then I followed her suggestions because I didn't want anything getting in the way of me having surgery...

I sure don't want to sound "holier than thou", but for me, it was just the opposite. After I made the decision to get the sleeve, for me it was an acceptance that I was going to make a fundamental change with my relationship with food.

I did have a "last meal" at my favorite german restaurant (which turned out to be sooo disappointing). But I think it was like an alcoholic. Once you admit you have a problem, you can't go back to drinking the same way again.

My surgeon was so against that to the point if we gained weight he would cancelled the surgery. So even if I wanted to I was way to scared to.

We were to lose weight each month, and if we gain weight after our approval any time before surgery, he will cancel. He has gone into surgery and opened up a patient and could tell they didn't follow the 14 day shake diet and closed the patient up.

I start my two week pre-op shakes on May 21st and I admit, I want to go to the movies and get some popcorn and I want to go out to my favorite restaurant within the next week. I am still following my diet because I want this to become a lifestyle not a diet, not a surgery with regain. I've seen so many people that had gastric bypass that gained a whole lot of weight back and I am not doing that, though I'm getting the sleeve.

I don't even have a surgery date yet but I have talked to the NUT but I just feel like whatever sometimes.. I do eat smart like whole grains and stuff but I tend to over eat

Well, I didn't watch my portions. She didn't ask me to. She wasn't out to make me lose weight necessarily. Just not gain. What she did ask me to do in preparation for surgery was not drink carbonated drinks, only sf tea, and only drink juices that were low cal. Basically not to "drink" my calories...and I lost 10 lbs just doing that.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
