Did any one hire a personal trainer after surgery. I would love to get one but afraid of being looked differently because I had surgery.

No, I have not yet but plan on it. I want to get a little more "in shape" before I do that. I wouldnt worry about what anyone thinks, this is for you and your health and it doesnt matter what they think!

I have one that I signed up with before surgery at Gold's. I'm not sure if he "approves" of me doing surgery, but he has agreed to still train me afterward. I am planning on asking if he has experience with other Bariatric patients though because I know that might make a difference in what he has me do after surgery. The Bariatric coordinator at the hospital said that the head trainer at my gym has done a lot of work with Bariatric patients, so I can always have my trainer talk to him about what to do too.

I would just suggest making sure they've worked with other Bariatric patients and/or feel comfortable training you.

I dropped my personal trainer - the 500$ a month helped me cover the surgery, lol.

I wasn't impressed with the "trainer" at my gym. Almost everything he told me goes against what the successful sleevers here have told me. He advocates high weights and low reps (nope), advocates using "fat burning mode" on the machines (nope, that's just low and slow, I need cardio) and he tried to make me and three other overweight girls do a pull up. I pulled ab muscles a couple of weeks ago. I'm pretty sure pull-ups aren't happening for me. And, as I said in an earlier post, I only know of a couple of women who I think can do pull ups: Lil Miss Diva and Blackberry juice.

However, if I could find a trainer who specialized in helping bariatric patients, I'd pay their fee for at least a consultation.

Find a trainer who also has a nutritional background... The combo is great. I use to be a personal trainer for New York Sports Club and my motto was always to teach not coach. Every client I ever had I taught them how to train themselves and they loved the feeling. The only time I coached was when I knew thy WEREN'T giving it their all. I personally didn't have a nutritional background but I took many nutritional classes that helped me help my clients.

Be prepared to find a personal trainer that will listen to everything you say and adopt it to your current situation in order to create a solid workout regiment just for you.

Lissa don't count me out of the pull UPS! I used to do several when I was younger...and weighed more than I do now...but I was also 20ish. It's harder now, but I have slipped out of an exercise routine. I have so many things I enjoy doing now as long as I get in alot of exercise I am not worrying about it just this minute. Sort of...

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
