How far out are you? Could be lactose?

This happened to me at 3 weeks out and it was lactose intolerance. The doctor said it would probably pass in a few months but I was shocked - I had never had lactose issues before. I switched to Silk Almond Milk and feel fine! Hope this help!!

I don't know how far out you are, but it isn't unheard of for tastes to change/lactose intolerance to develop/and for once enjoyed shakes to become horrible.

Try something different. I love BariWise hot chocolate. I also did pretty well with the EAS ready to drink shakes. I never could stand the powdered shakes after surgery... they all made me feel ill and I couldn't stand the taste.

I hope you feel better soon. I don't know how far out you are, but things get a lot easier once you can focus on "real foods" for your Protein sources!

Thanks! Going into my 5th week. I use the EAS shakes because I could get them down, powder stuff I can't even smell or I dry heave...so weird.

Guess I will try another brand and try getting more through food. Thanks!

Try the Premier shakes from costco or Sams Club. Really fantastic and 30 grams of Protein. The price is good too.

The only Protein I could get down were Premier shakes from Sam's...and I've been lactose intolerant for years! I would drink 1/2 of the shake at a time & my tummy wouldn't get upset. Now that I'm almost 3 months out, I eat 1 Protein Bar for Breakfast everyday & the rest of my daily Protein comes from food. This has made life soooo much easier! I'm loving my sleeve!!!

The only way I can get n Protein post op is to add Unjury unflavored powder to Dannon flavored Greek yogurt or Jello sugar free pudding. I wasted money on premier shakes from costco n can't even drink it. Gross!

Protein shakes have never agreed with me, I tend to get in all my Protein via food.

How do you do it when we can eat so little. I hate the Protein Shakes and anything artificial for that fact. Before the sleeve I could do the shakes. Now I can not stand the foam they make, when the foam separates and I can skim it off the shake has also separated. Gross. I will be heading back to work next week and will try the pre-made Premier Protein shakes to help me while working.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
